In this course I’ll teach you how to ground yourself, soothe yourself and calm yourself when worries, anxieties and stresses happen in your life. You’ll learn some of the best grounding, self-soothing and calming tools available. Over eight sessions, I’ll give you evidence-based, sustainable and realistic tools and meditations to help you understand and compassionately manage your anxiety and worry patterns. You’ll come away from this course with ready-to-use tools and skills to ground, self-soothe and calm yourself when difficulties arise in your life.


Meet your Teacher

Jane is a registered counselling psychologist with over 10 years’ experience. As well as her sleep course on InsightTimer, she also has a special interest in helping people negotiate anxiety and stresses in their daily lives; teaching them evidence-based tools to help them ground, self-soothe and calm themselves. Jane has a flourishing psychology practice in Auckland, New Zealand and her mission is to provide accessible, realistic tools for reducing anxiety and stress to as many people as possible. What’s Within My Control? What’s Outside My Control?

In this session we take a deep dive into things we actually do have control over in our lives versus things that we have absolutely no control over. We learn how liberating and joyful it can be to let go of things we have no control over. We end day 3 with a short meditation which will compassionately help you let go of things you can’t control.

Breath Work For Grounding, Soothing And Calming

In this session, we are reminded just how important breath work is for our physical and mental health. We learn a beautiful, short meditation where we focus on your breath, as we keep your stomach nice and soft.

Lesson 5

Self-Compassion For Anxiety And Other Sticky Thoughts

In this session, I walk you through exactly what it means to be compassionate to ourselves when we’re feeling anxious or stressed. We learn how science has shown us that the simple act of being kind to ourselves can reduce our anxiety, and support us to live happier, more fulfilled lives. We end the session with a self-compassion meditation.

Lesson 6

Connecting With Nature

Sometimes when we’re feeling stressed or anxious, the best thing to do is to take ourselves out into nature, or just listen to a soothing meditation that helps us connect with nature right where we are. In today’s session I share some nourishing ways to connect with nature and the session ends with a calming nature meditation.

STOMP – Stop; Take A Breath; Observe; Find What Matters Most; Proceed

In this session, we talk about how we can use the STOMP acronym as a wonderful way to help us ground, self-soothe and calm ourselves in any moment. I then guide you in a short mindfulness practice using STOMP.

Lesson 8

Review—Setting An Intention To Use The Tools Regularly

In this session, we review and reflect on what we’ve covered in the course to support you in your journey of Grounding, Self-Soothing and Calming. When we take the time to reflect on what we’ve learned, we can build a deeper, more personal relationship to the tools we’ve learned. I also talk through a client’s journey of how using the tools on this course have greatly helped reduce her anxiety and stress.
