Starting Your Day With A Calm Mind

With Rebecca Reay

Many of us wake up already carrying yesterday into today. Before we've even left our bed, our minds are replaying conversations, worrying about what's ahead, or filling with endless to-do lists, and the day feels stressful before it has even begun. This gentle five-day course combines mindfulness with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, also known as tapping) to help you recognise these familiar morning patterns, meet them with kindness, and create space for a calmer, more intentional start to your day. Across five short audio lessons, you will learn to: Notice the thought patterns that greet you when you wake, without judgement Create a moment of space, a fresh page, before the day fills it Meet recurring thoughts with curiosity and understand where they sit in your body Use a simple, gentle tapping routine to release yesterday's worries Bring it all together into a short morning ritual you can keep for life Each lesson is around nie to ten minutes long and builds on the one before, so you develop your practice one gentle step at a time. No prior experience of mindfulness or tapping is needed as everything is explained simply, and you'll be guided through each practice as we go. You can complete one lesson a day, or move at whatever pace feels right for you. By the end of the course, you'll have a simple, sustainable morning practice that helps you begin each day feeling calmer, clearer, and more present and the quiet confidence that whenever yesterday tries to crowd in, you know how to begin again. This course is designed to support your wellbeing and is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care.

Lesson 1

Before The Day Begins

Today, we begin simply by noticing. So many of us wake with our minds already busy, replaying old conversations, worrying, filling today's page with yesterday's thoughts before our feet have touched the floor. Through a gentle guided practice, you'll learn to observe which thoughts greet you first thing in the morning, without judgement and without needing to change anything. Awareness is the first step towards a calmer day, and it starts here.

Lesson 2

A Fresh Blank Page

Having noticed how quickly the mind fills each morning, today we explore a kinder possibility: beginning the day with a fresh, blank page. This isn't about emptying your mind or having no thoughts; it's about allowing a few moments of open space before the day's expectations rush in. Through a gentle breathing practice, you'll experience what it feels like to pause, settle into your breath, and offer yourself a clean page before the writing begins.

Lesson 3

Meeting Your Familiar Thoughts

Certain thoughts visit us morning after morning, arriving so reliably they almost have a key to the door. In this lesson, you'll learn that these familiar thoughts aren't failures; they're habits, and that curiosity, not judgement, is what changes our relationship with them. Through a guided practice, you'll gently meet your recurring thought patterns, notice where they sit in your body, and discover what it feels like to be beside your thoughts rather than tangled inside them.

Lesson 4

Letting Go With Tapping

This is the lesson everything has been building towards. Today you'll learn Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, a gentle, practical way of releasing the thoughts and feelings you've been noticing all week. You'll be guided through each tapping point step by step, so no prior experience is needed, before moving through two full rounds together: first acknowledging what's really here, then gently letting it go and turning to the fresh page of your day.

Lesson 5

Beginning Again

In this final lesson, everything comes together - the noticing, the blank page, the curiosity, and the tapping all woven into one simple morning ritual you can keep for life. You'll learn the four small steps of the practice, move through the full ritual one last time with guidance, and be reminded of the most important truth of this course: you don't need perfect mornings. You simply need a moment to pause before yesterday takes over, and the willingness to begin again.
