Hello,
Hello,
Hello and welcome.
I'm so glad you've chosen to end your day here with me.
This is an evening practice,
So make yourself properly comfortable.
You might be sitting somewhere soft or already lying in bed.
Both are perfect.
Let your body be held by whatever is beneath you and allow your eyes to close whenever they're ready.
During this practice,
I'll guide you through some gentle tapping.
If tapping is new to you,
There's nothing to worry about.
I'll describe every point as we reach it.
And you're always welcome to simply listen and breathe instead.
There's no right or wrong way to be here.
So let's begin by taking a slow,
Easy breath in.
And letting it go long and soft.
And again,
Breathing in.
And as you release,
Let the day begin to lose its grip.
I'd like to offer you an image to rest with for this evening.
Imagine that your day has been a page in a journal.
Today's page.
And now,
As the evening arrives,
That page is full.
Perhaps it's covered in neat lines,
Things that went well.
Moments you're glad of.
Perhaps parts of it are scribbled and crossed out.
The conversation that didn't go to plan.
The tasks that didn't get finished.
The moments you wish had gone differently.
However your page looks tonight.
Here's what I'd like you to know.
It doesn't need editing.
Not now.
The day is written.
And you don't need to keep reading it over and over in the dark.
Because here's what so many of us do.
We climb into bed.
And instead of resting,
We hold the page up and we read it again.
We rerun the conversations.
We count the unfinished things.
We carry today straight into the night and then wonder why sleep feels so far away.
Tonight,
We're going to do something kinder.
We're going to acknowledge the page,
All of it.
The neat lines and the scribbles.
And then gently we're going to close it.
Not tear it out.
Not pretend it didn't happen.
Just close it.
The way you'd close a book at the end of a chapter,
Knowing it's safe inside.
So let's do that together now with some gentle tapping.
Using two or three fingers,
Tapping as lightly as you tap along to a quiet piece of music.
If you're lying down,
You can tap very softly or simply rest your fingertips on each point as we reach it.
That works really well too.
And taking full responsibility for yourself,
Your health and your well-being.
And your actions.
Let's begin.
Repeat each phrase after me.
You can say this out loud or silently in your own mind.
And finding the eyebrow point at the inner end of the eyebrow near the bridge of the nose.
Tapping on the eyebrow point and say,
Today's page is full.
Moving to the side of the eye on the bone at the outer corner.
And say some of it written well.
Some of it unfinished.
Under the eye,
On the bone just below.
Say.
And I don't need to carry it into my sleep.
Under the nose in that little groove,
Say.
I acknowledge everything that happened today.
Chin point,
The crease below your bottom lip.
And say.
The moments I loved and the moments that were hard.
Collarbones just below that hard ridge.
You can use either a soft flat hand or tap with the fingertips and say,
And now I choose to gently close this page.
Edge of the arm.
Which is a hand's width below the armpit on the side of the body,
And say.
.
.
Today is done and I've done enough.
And tapping on the top of the head,
All over the top of the head.
And say,
Tomorrow has his own fresh page waiting for me.
And let's do one more round now,
Even more gently now.
Letting the words become quieter and sleepier.
So back to the eyebrow point and say after me,
I set today down with kindness.
Side of the eye.
What's unfinished will wait for me.
Under the eye.
It always does,
And that's okay.
And the nose.
I let my body soften into the evening.
Chin,
My shoulders,
My jaw,
My breath.
Collarbones,
I close the page with a quiet thank you.
Under the arm and I open my heart to rest.
Top of the head,
And so it is.
And letting your hands come to rest now wherever they're comfortable.
And taking a slow,
Long,
Deep breath in and releasing it fully,
Letting your whole body sink a little deeper into softness.
And now in your mind's eye,
If you can.
See the journal closing.
The cover coming down slow and soft over today's page.
Everything written today is safe inside.
Nothing is lost.
It simply doesn't need you anymore tonight.
Notice how the body feels when the page is closed.
Perhaps a little heavier in that lovely sleepy way.
Perhaps the breath has slowed all by itself.
Perhaps the thoughts are still murmuring quietly,
And that's fine.
They're just the last words settling on the page as the book closes.
There's nothing left to do today.
Nothing to solve,
Nothing to finish.
Nothing to hold.
The day is written.
The page is closed.
And you are free to rest.
So let yourself drift now,
Or whatever pace feels natural.
And if sleep comes before this practice ends,
How wonderful.
Let it take you.
Good night.
Sleep softly.
And tomorrow,
A fresh page will be waiting.
But that is tomorrow's gift,
Not tonight's task.
Take care
