Emetophobia can feel so overwhelming and difficult to deal with.
Mainly because the trigger that causes the panic attacks and the anxiety and the difficulty is your own body.
It's every little part,
Every movement of your stomach or eating,
Depending on how that phobia is expressing within you,
Can be that trigger.
But when you experience emetophobia,
What you're actually experiencing is that you're not feeling safe within your body.
This is something you can learn though.
So this is a little practice for you if you're feeling nauseous or you're not feeling well and there is panic arising.
This practice is to remind you that those sensations of panic and of nausea is your body trying to protect you.
So let's try and send it a new signal that you're safe here and right now.
Let's repeat this practice over and over again for your body to understand that it's true.
So place one hand on your belly and the other one on your chest.
Notice the warmth of your touch.
Try and really get the sensation of your skin,
Of your fingers and of your chest and your belly.
The skin where it touches each other.
Now breathe in slowly and breathe out with a soft mmm sound.
A little bit like you would be humming if you were soothing a baby or just a deep mmm.
And then take your hands and gently tap your thighs.
Left,
Right and left and right.
And continue to tap and just let your focus follow the rhythm.
Left,
Right,
Left,
Right.
And then you can say softly in your mind or out loud,
I am here.
This feeling will pass.
My body is trying to help me and I can help it too.
Stay here for a few more breaths and continue the tapping.
The bilateral stimulation will help to deepen the connections in the brain.
That makes the creation of a feeling of safety and certain connections in the brain much faster.
Allow safety to grow.
Repeat this over and over again.
Don't give up.
Your nervous system is the most amazing thing on this planet.
And it can grow and change in so many different ways and you can influence in what way it's going to change.
So you can create that safety for yourself.
I'm so glad you were here today and I'm looking forward to practice more with you.
