Erica Anderson

Erica’s own meditation practice began during her graduate studies (Master of Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Health Education & Active Living), as she engaged in self inquiry practices in order to better understand herself and others. As a communications coach, she deepened her practice, using prescriptive meditations as means to explore belief systems and behavioural patterns through the lens of communication and relationships. Every stage of her personal development has unfolded by taking one small step at a time. Her own journey transformed into a calling to help others as they embark on their own personal path, with kindness, compassion, and care. In the words of Ram Dass, 'We’re all just walking each other home.'

Wonderful instructions for the preparation of the mediation! The counting was more challenging than I expected, I caught myself a few times hitting 15, but I did feel a level of focused meditation. I usually meditate with my eyes closed, keeping them open was a bit challenging but after I stopped thinking about and they stayed open. Did feel a sense of clarity even with the challenges of the practice., but that’s why we call in practice. A very good wind down to the day. Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏻❤️☮️

Always good to come back to the basics and revisit the focus on breathe and labeling what comes up.

New beginning is essential to my practice, to any practice. I like the feeling of noticing, noticing that I have ventured into a thought. By noticing, it helps me to let go of it. And focus on breathe, or peace, well being. I relate it to my practice of painting and also dancing. When I paint, I focus on being “ in the zone”, staying with my breathe, not attaching to the thoughts that may arise. Same goes with dancing, it requires staying present in the mouvement, the contact with my partner. Practice, practice, practice. Begin, begin, begin. Nature is a great teacher for new beginnings! Thank you for sharing your practice with me (us). 🙏

Thank you for teaching this boudhiste technique. It’s so interesting to notice how quickly the cycle of thoughts can come back and the first thing I know my count is at 13! Things I need to plan, the next thing I want to organize and do, etc. At first I was worried to keep my eyes open. But sure enough, it settled and felt appropriate to only softly look at what is slightly ahead and lower. No other images came to my mind.
