This course introduces esbats, which are monthly (and sometimes even more often) observances usually centered around the moon's phases. Esbats are regular celebrations in coven settings but are also enjoyed by solitary practitioners. Together, we will explore the meaning of esbats and what they include, featuring an example full moon ritual. There are also poems, recipes, and blessings a-plenty. Both newcomers to the Craft and experienced practitioners will find this course meaningful and fun.

Esbats Explained

So many people, regardless of their spiritual path, find at least some significance—if not awe—in observing the full moon in the night sky. For Wiccans and Pagans, the regular observance of the moon’s phases, known as esbats, is a monthly representation of nature’s yearly cycle.

Elevating Your Esbats

This lesson looks at some of the key components of any neopagan ritual—including esbats. These offerings are nothing more than guides or suggestions, and you are invited (and encouraged!) to make them into an observance that is uniquely yours.

A Full Moon Esbat Ritual

What follows is the text of a full moon esbat ritual written in and for my personal tradition. It is highly adaptable to fit your practice, and I encourage you to modify it in any way you see fit so that it will be meaningful and beneficial to you.
