The Crow Knows
by Crow Moon
This poem is about a crow searching for kindness in the world and finding it in a somehwat odd place. It also invites us to awaken to kindness and give it to those around us.--freely and often. Brightest blessings to all.

Every day, High in the sky, The crow is on patrol. When he's not on one of his perches, He takes to the air with the greatest care. It is for goodness that he searches. He says, Humans are quite interesting to me. There's a lot of dislike and hatred out there. Intentional or not, They simply don't seem to care. The crow flaps his wings and makes a descent. Atop a lonely building, He sits, And what he finds next makes him lose his wits. A couple fights violently in a parking lot because one of them took the other's spot. Another takes money from a donation can owned by a sleeping homeless man. The couple now exchanges stares without saying a word. The crow thinks, And humans call each other, Dumb as a bird. In disgust, The crow lowers his head. I'm too old to be tracking this dread. I should be doing something else instead. A car pulling in opens the crow's eyes to give him his greatest surprise. A pair of loving and cheerful blue eyes. A schoolgirl exits the passenger door and makes haste. For her mother's time, She must not waste. She tiptoes to where the homeless man sleeps, Five dollars in her hand. Carefully, She squats down and puts the money in his can. She returns to the car to start her day. To her, What she did was only mingled love and play. The bickering couple are now frozen in place. Now trivial is that parking space. They too approach the can and leave several bills for the sleeping man. The crow senses a warm inner glow. Goodness, He does finally know. Yet he knows there's a final seed to sow. With might, The large crow flaps his wings, And off the building top he springs. The crow lets out an ear-splitting caw just above the sleeping man. Abruptly and rudely awakened, He scrambles for that can. The crow says, That's normally no way to treat a friend, But I didn't want people taking your money again. Blessed be.

The crow knows what the human should know. The caution in your poem is the true knowledge found in nature. Much gratitude for your words.

I really love this. The music is such a good combination. The idea that the goodness spreads like a spark and makes a difference. And on top of that I came here because I really love crows. Thank you for your creation! Blessed Be!

How synchronistic! I needed to meditate right now about 6:30 pm after have glimpsed the nightly television news which was pretty bleak as usual. This particular title came up in my suggestions. I also carry food with me every day to feed the crows in hopes of befriending one. It is chunks of suet with mealworms and other yummy treats a crow would probably appreciate. Thanks for the message from a crow. β€οΈ

I respect the crows so much; what smart birds they are! I remember one time on a canoe trip, some young fellows so foolishly used a slingshot to a crow. The crow took refuge under my canoe that was up on the sand, just a couple feet away. (I felt a bond with him, that he felt safety near me). Then the crow took to the Forrest. Shortly after, I heard what I presumed was a funeral with 100s of crows gathering. (Yes, I reported the incident to the park ranger. Long story short⦠the 2 boys were found, then employed to do some volunteer work for a week for their wrong doing).

I love the messages the crow leaves. So true. We have thousands of crows nesting here in Chatham Ontario for the winter months. In fact, we have a crow festival Oct. 11 to 14 th to honour our fellow birds. Thank you
