So that we can embrace and reap the benefits of authentic forgiveness, we must first understand what it is and what it is not. In this first lesson we will discuss how forgiveness is often misunderstood and explore the definition of forgiveness and how it relates to you. Together, we will begin to fully bring the art of forgiveness into our lives.

The power of forgiveness is an awesome force that can change your life and how you view
it. There are ways you can forgive someone without condoning or feeling compassion for what
they have done. Remember the act of forgiveness is for you – to heal and be able to live life
to the fullest. The healing powers of forgiveness can permeate every part of your life,
including your important relationships.

Forgiveness & Letting Go
Let’s explore the concepts of forgiveness, letting go and acceptance and how they relate in
this process. These concepts are quite similar – if one forgives completely. It is possible to let go of something or someone without forgiving, whereas, it is not feasible to forgive completely without letting go. Something that many people struggle with is forgiving others when they have hurt you. Today, we approach this concept head on and learn to let go.

Planning Your Forgiveness Journey
The first step in planning your forgiveness journey is to commit to the process. It’s going to
involve change and active participation from your mind and body to release the thoughts and feelings you may be experiencing. In today's lesson we will learn the importance of having a forgiveness state of mind and a plan to implement all of the necessary steps.

Accepting & Allowing
Accepting and allowing are a large part of forgiving and letting go. Holding on to the past is like living on autopilot, even though this can often be misperceived as being in control and “creating one's future.” Today, we will actively choose to move forth from the trap of merely living out our prior patterns, beliefs and ideas in new ways and in new forms. We will learn to accept and allow what can best serve us.

Empowerment Through Forgiveness
Until you use the power of forgiveness to release yourself from the inward and outward signs of fear, guilt, anger, turmoil and frustration – the negative feelings will cling to your psyche and even begin to make a difference in your physical, mental and emotional well- being. Only when you let go can you regain your innate power and see a transformation within yourself.

Why It Can Be Difficult To Forgive
Letting go of judgement and any story is essential to moving through this process. Resentment and anger can imprison you and impede your ability to form other relationships. In today's lesson you will learn that when you forgive (of course, without condoning) you will be able to walk away from the prison and let go of the pain that had you locked in to negative feelings and thoughts.

Steps To True Forgiveness
True forgiveness creates freedom! Once you make the decision to forgive, you need to make a
commitment to do the work involved. In today's lesson we look at implementing concrete steps to true forgiveness. Don’t put pressure on yourself to reach a state of forgiveness before you are ready. The very act of taking the steps to forgiveness can bring so much joy and happiness in your life that you will almost immediately begin to reap the benefits.

Forgiveness Is A Gift You Give Yourself
Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. It is the right to be free, to not allow anyone or anything from the past to hold you back in your current actions. The importance of forgiveness in one’s life cannot be understated. Many people live their lives harboring resentment and irritation for people or events from their past, allowing these things to cloud their present-day experience.

Forgiveness Gives Me Inner Freedom
Once you become free – you are always free. By forgiving, we open and awaken our heart. In this final lesson we consolidate all that we have learnt and come to recognise that inner freedom is attainable. Other than those minor residues or echoes from the past that may occasionally crop up, there is no getting stuck again. Embrace a newfound sense of solace.
