Hello,
Everyone.
Welcome back to the 30 Days.
Of soul curriculum integration and i'm working with my soul art here Today let's just start by getting grounded,
By taking a breath in.
Sighing it out.
Maybe allow your.
.
.
Head to move around.
Gently roll your shoulders back.
Maybe shake out your hands a little bit gently.
Might even stretch your arms just so you feel.
Little bit into your body And let's just start with a physiological sigh.
Is just two gentle sips in through the nose.
Opening the mouth and sighing it out.
It actually is very connected to us when we were children because it's something that you would do when maybe after a tantrum to bring the nervous system back into balance.
So let's just do a few together.
We'll just do three.
Just two gentle sips in through the nose.
Sighing out the mouth.
Ready?
You That's just a gentle physiological sigh to bring us into balance.
Arrive a little bit,
And let's just do it three more times.
And the reason I'm doing this today is because we're going to talk about that energy of child,
Inner child,
Children around us.
And this is very connected,
This breath,
To children because that's where you can witness it.
It's literally in the kids after they have the tantrums and their nervous system has been going,
Ah,
And then that breath brings them right back.
It's natural.
They don't even have to think about it.
So let's just do three more.
So it's two gentle sips in through the nose and then sighing out through the mouth.
You can even add sound if you want.
Hmm.
When I was creating the soul art in the very beginning,
Doing my outline,
I was working alongside my daughter.
It's a beautiful thing to work alongside a child because there's no inhibition in the same way that we work as adults.
So she's nine years old,
And we were on a soul art journey together.
This was us.
Side-by-side working on our solar She was working on her own body map and then she worked on her own words and then created her own intention.
And began to paint on it so we were working side by side and you can see the original version of my soul art there before i put it in the bath We were working side by side.
The beautiful thing about that is.
.
.
My daughter talks.
She likes to tell stories.
She likes to sing.
She likes to,
And when she paints,
It's just really freeform.
And she started talking about stories of a mimic,
Which I'm going to talk about in another one of these 15 minutes,
Because it has a big,
Like she was speaking to something that was so real in my journey.
But today I'm just talking about that energy that she just lets it flow from out of her,
Right?
The words,
Sometimes she'll just be talking in the middle of a story and then she'll start singing or moving.
I'll notice that when she moves on her soul heart,
It's like it's almost rhythmic.
It almost has like a little dance to it.
And children are so natural.
Children are our teachers,
Right?
So I want you to think back for a moment.
You can close your eyes.
You don't have to close your eyes.
Think back to when you were a child and doing something that you created.
Are in art but maybe music or dance or maybe you know you really love to bake as a child and feel what that felt like in your body.
Like,
What did that feel like for you to create whatever it be?
Maybe it was gardening.
Maybe it was like really playing with paints.
Maybe it was drawing.
Maybe it was dancing.
But remember the freedom that you felt,
That flow that happened,
Right?
When you're a child,
You don't have all of this inner critic stuff going on.
You just kind of set yourself in the process and go.
And the beautiful thing,
And I'm going to talk about this later,
Is what I was saying about the story of the mimic.
They channel naturally.
So if you create next to a child,
Oftentimes.
.
.
What they're talking about or the things that they're singing or the movements that they're making will resonate with your own journey because they channel very easily.
So what she was telling a story was channeling something from my soul art,
And we totally connected on that.
And it was a huge insight,
But I didn't have it until I finished the soul art.
When I was writing about everything that I was doing throughout the soul art,
That was one of the things that came up,
The story that she told.
And I was like,
Oh my goodness,
That story is everything about my soul art.
So kids naturally channel,
And so did you when you were young.
So just thinking to yourself,
When you did something wonderful that you loved when you were a child,
What is it that your body felt like?
Did you feel the flow?
Did you feel the guidance?
Did you feel the freedom in your body when you create it?
There is something so beautiful about children as teachers.
So I just wanted to bring that in today and have you take a moment.
And just think about what it was like to create when you were a child.
And just what did your body feel like?
And then on the other side of that,
I want you to think about when you have to create something now as an adult,
Right?
When you're in the middle of a creation project.
What does your body feel like now as an adult?
Are you still able to tap into that childlike freedom?
You know,
It's like.
.
.
Considering the fact that adults often have a lot of that doubt,
That shame,
That fear,
All of those things that are going on,
Expectation,
We've gathered it up in our lives up to where we are now,
Right?
And sometimes it can be,
It can really stick us and then we get very pressured,
Maybe we get tight.
I noticed that when I create with my daughter,
I am much freer,
Much freer in my expression.
It's almost like it's contagious.
And I know not everyone has children at home to create with,
But you do have your own childhood.
You have your own inner child.
Right?
We all have this inner child within us.
Sometimes that inner child is pushed aside.
Sometimes it is run by an inner mother.
Who is not supportive that needs a little love,
Right?
But we all have this inner child.
And if we're showing up for ourselves,
We wanna show up for our inner child too.
We wanna show up for that child within us that wants that freedom,
That feels that freedom.
Expression.
And channels through.
Right.
Because here's just an example.
And you can actually see in her brushstrokes,
Like she just went,
She just really liked the long.
Big brush stroke she had the roller she was constantly telling me stories and i noticed at first i was doing things very small detailed right and then i was like i'm in the energy of my daughter i'm watching her use this roller and the paint is splattering And I was like,
Well,
If she's going to splatter paint,
I might as well.
And I allowed myself to get bigger and throw some paint.
In the first iteration of this soul art,
I even painted with my feet.
So I used,
I put the paint down and I was like walking on the paper and I was like almost ice skating on it.
And we were laughing and she was telling stories.
So it became this joyful experience in and of itself.
And we can get that joyful experience in anything that we have to do,
My friends.
Because it's all in us.
I want you to just pick something that you're creating,
Something you're working on.
It might be something for your work.
It might be something for your life.
It might be like,
I'm trying to change my diet,
Right?
You're creating a new way of eating for yourself.
Or maybe it's a new exercise routine.
Or maybe you're starting to journal.
Whatever it is,
I want you to pick one thing that you're working on creating right now.
And I want you to close your eyes.
And just notice how you're approaching this thing that you're creating.
Whatever it is you're trying to create in your life.
And just notice how you're approaching it.
So with your eyes closed,
Maybe you even think about that thing you're creating.
And if you start to bring your awareness to your senses.
You'll feel how you're creating it or what your body's doing.
So if you bring it into your mind,
You might feel like a tightness.
You might feel an expansion.
You might feel a sensation on your skin.
You might get a visual of something.
Just notice,
How are you carrying your body through that thing that you're creating?
How does it move through you?
Is there planning and hesitation and details and expectation?
All of those things in this thing that you're creating,
Right?
Feel how that feels in your nervous system.
And then take an ice.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale you can exhale through your mouth through your nose and as you do it just allowing that sensation to release I like to breathe when I'm releasing through my nose,
And then as I exhale,
I go through a cool stream of air through my lips.
As a release,
Almost like I'm blowing out a candle like this.
And I often get out,
Release.
Clear,
Those kind of words can really help.
Just take one more breath.
Relaxing back away from those details,
Those expectations,
Those maybe it's rigidity,
Maybe it's not.
And I want you to picture.
.
.
Yourself.
Approaching that same creative act.
But with the energy of a child.
With the freedom of a child.
Maybe it's your own inner child.
Maybe it's you as a child.
Maybe it's the energy of a child that you know who you just love to watch go through the world.
Imagine how they would approach that creation you're trying to bring into the world.
That new habit.
I find that children often are not looking to not do something wrong.
They're looking to experiment and explore and see what happens.
So imagine that same thing that you're trying to create in your life.
But approaching it as a child.
That energy.
That they bring.
Imagine if you trusted that.
It was all good.
We'll get it done And what if the whole point of it is to play?
And not to perform,
Not to meet your expectations.
But to play and experiment and explore.
And then notice nervous system.
Notice your body.
Notice anything going on in your body.
Sensations,
Sounds,
Visuals.
Just notice for yourself.
How does your body feel with that invitation to play?
Instead of perform.
Inner child energy.
And breathe into it.
Inhale it in.
Exhale it out.
Allow your voice to come on that sigh.
Hmm.
I often think about how my kids do things or when they were younger,
How they do things.
Teenagers are a little different,
Right?
I have two teens.
I often think about how my teenagers,
When they were young,
Did things.
So I'm going to ask you some questions.
Who in your life remind you of your own creative freedom.
And what do they do?
That you've talked yourself out of.
What do they do that you have talked yourself out of?
When you are creating alongside somebody else.
How does that change the relationship to your own process?
Where have you made in your life creativity,
Creation,
Anything you're creating?
When I say creativity,
I see it everywhere,
So even in the menial tasks that we do.
Where have you made creativity about performance instead of play,
About performing,
Expectation,
Details,
Getting things done?
Have to do this instead of play and exploration.
And I'm not asking you to change them all.
Just notice.
Noticing.
Awareness is the very first step.
To bringing more joy in your life,
More play,
More experimentation.
And what would happen if you trusted your first creative impulse today instead of second-guessing it?
If you could give your inner child complete permission to create something right now.
What would they want to make?
Just let the questions settle.
You might just focus on one.
You might just let it follow you throughout the day.
And that's beautiful The next time you're about to create something,
Whether it's like a meal or a conversation or a new habit,
A response to a situation,
Whatever it be,
Pause and ask yourself.
Would I approach it this way if I trusted?
My creative impulses,
If I trusted my inner child,
If I trusted my exploration,
Just allowing that to be your medicine today.
It doesn't mean you have to change everything.
Nothing's perfect.
We don't do everything all at once.
To see if you can find a moment.
That play over performance today.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Enjoy that.
Let it steep through your day,
Just like we were talking about yesterday.
Let that steep,
Right?
That idea of like play.
Versus performance,
Allowing your inner child the freedom.
To channel through.
What you need,
My friends.
So thank you so much.
