
Rooted To Earth
This guided imagery will take you on a journey through a forest to help you relax and find peace. You will then be guided through a deep grounding practice to help you feel more centered and balanced.

We are going to work on grounding today,
Grounding into yourself and into your.
We're going to work on getting in touch with your body and connecting with yourself.
So let's begin by taking a deep breath.
Breathe deep into the body and let it out slowly.
Very good.
Again,
Take a deep breath in through the nose.
Breathe all the way down to your stomach and then slowly release the breath.
This time,
We're going to breathe in to the count of four.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
And slowly release to the count of eight.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight.
Wonderful.
One more time,
Breathing in.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four.
And out.
One,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight.
Very nice.
And we're going to take a walk today,
A walk through the woods.
So imagine a path through a beautiful old growth forest.
You are right at the beginning of the path.
And you start off looking forward to your time in the woods.
Notice the tall majestic trees all around you,
All the greens and browns in the forest,
Along with some color from wildflowers peeking out from beneath ferns and over rocks.
The ground you walk on is covered in pine needles,
Providing a nice cushion for your feet.
And you smell the wonderful pine scents and the rich smell of earth with some delicate flower scents mixed in.
There is a soft breeze blowing.
The air is just the perfect temperature.
And you feel at home here,
A part of the forest that surrounds you.
You can hear the boughs of the trees rustle.
You hear birds calling to each other and hear water rushing not far away.
And you come to a clearing beside a slow moving stream and you decide to sit and rest for a bit.
Despite the walk,
Your body is feeling rested and relaxed.
You sit or lie down on the forest floor,
So comfortable and so safe.
You feel so at one with the forest,
So similar to the trees all around you,
That you begin to imagine roots coming out from the soles of your feet and out of your tailbone.
The roots go deep into the earth.
The deeper the roots go,
The more they spread out and you are feeling so grounded and so calm.
Feel your roots connecting to everything out here.
You felt a part of the forest before,
But now you can feel every living thing all around you as if it were a part of you and you were a part of it.
That's right.
The roots sink deeper and deeper,
Rooting you deeply and securely.
And as they spread out,
The connection you feel grows and you know that you are not alone.
You are a part of the world,
A part of every living thing,
A piece of a wonderful large puzzle.
You feel a connection to all that is,
To the earth,
The trees and all living things.
Take a moment to enjoy this feeling.
What is it like to feel so grounded and so secure?
What if you could feel this way all the time?
This feeling that you are a part of something bigger than your son.
You are a part of all life on earth,
Of the earth itself.
You have a magical connection to all that is.
The roots are well grounded now and you feel so secure and so stable.
Since you are a part of the earth and connected so deeply to it,
It gives you a wonderful feeling.
And you begin to realize that you can transfer any stress,
Tension or negativity that are in the body down into the earth through your roots to be absorbed and transformed.
No need to worry about it harming the earth.
The earth knows how to transfer energy and turn any of the negative energy that is given into positive energy that can be released back into the world.
You can feel the negative energy leaving your body.
Feel the tension drain away.
It feels so good.
Your body relaxes,
Releases as that negativity and tension drains away.
And as it does,
You know that you can also pull positive energy and strength up from the earth through the roots.
Positive energy begins to move up through the roots,
Filling your body with strength and vitality starting with the feet and the base of the spine and slowly moving up,
Filling the body as it goes.
Feeling this transfer of energy gives you the opportunity to really focus on the body and consider the body.
You realize you do not really know your body that well.
Have not really taken time recently to check in with your body,
But you can take that time now.
You can ask each part of your body how it is feeling,
Why it is feeling that way and what you can do for that part to help it reach a more optimal state of health.
Starting with the feet,
How are they feeling?
Direct your full attention to your feet while you listen to what they have to tell you and what they most need from you right now.
Do not search for the answers.
Pose the question and wait and listen for a response.
Then check in with your legs.
Ask your legs how they are feeling today and what they need from you.
The response may come in words,
Pictures,
Memories,
Feelings.
Whatever answer you receive is the right answer.
Then direct your attention to your hips.
How are the hips feeling and what do they need from you?
Sometimes the answers we receive are not what we expect,
So do not be surprised if it does not seem related to that part of the body.
That's right.
Then focus on your back.
How is the back feeling and what does it need from you?
Our bodies store memories and emotions and sometimes they will come back up when we check in with the body part.
Next is the stomach.
How is the stomach feeling and what does it need from you?
Try and approach each part of the body with curiosity and compassion.
Very good.
And then focus on the chest.
How is the chest feeling and what does it need from you?
Notice what it feels like to take the time to get to know each part of the body,
To get to know yourself and body better.
Then check in with the arms.
How are the arms feeling and what do they need from you?
Feel more acceptance and love from the body as you learn more about it.
Then focus on the hands.
How are the hands feeling and what do each of them need from you?
Feel more appreciation for everything the body does for you.
Then check in with the shoulders.
How are the shoulders feeling and what do they need from you?
You are a part of the body and the body is a part of you.
You can work together to feel good and approach a more complete health.
Then check in with the neck.
How is the neck feeling and what does it need from you?
Would it be wonderful if you gave your body what it needed and in turn the body felt good and supported you in all the things you wanted to do in your life.
And now check in with the head.
How is the head feeling and what does it need from you?
It's very good.
You have now checked in with your whole body.
Take a moment now to sit in awareness of your body.
There is nothing else right now for you to do.
Nothing else in the world except you and the body.
You can enjoy and appreciate each other.
You can work together in harmony.
You can communicate with each other in healthy ways.
That's your aim.
It's wonderful.
Now expand your awareness slowly to the world around you.
Picture a favorite place in nature,
A place you consider beautiful and that you enjoy spending time.
Imagine every detail of this place.
Think of what you see there,
What you hear,
What you feel,
Even what you might taste and spend some time immersing yourself in this place,
In the natural world and feel your connection to the earth grow even deeper.
Feel at home with the earth all around you.
Feel that you have a place in the world.
That's your aim.
It is not possible for you to sit with yourself as you truly are.
The personality that is yours outside of anything else.
Spend some time sitting with yourself,
Getting to know yourself.
There may be no words to describe you in this moment and there is no need to define who you are.
Just spend a few moments sitting with yourself and enjoying your company.
And as you spend this time with you,
Enjoying you,
Getting to know you,
Begin to allow yourself to dream.
Begin to dream about the future or rewrite the past or dream of a different present.
Dream about what you enjoy and appreciate.
Just allow yourself this time to sit and dream.
That's right.
Very good.

I will count the numbers from one to five and you will return feeling grounded,
Connected,
Full of life and energy and with new dreams and goals to begin pursuing.
