
Refilling Your Cup
This is a guided relaxation to help you improve self-care by using imagery to repair the container that you keep your energy in and then working to fill it up with positive energy so that you are less stressed, less overwhelmed, and have more energy to face your day.
Transcript
To begin,
Let's take a deep breath into the nose,
Breathing all the way down to the stomach.
Feeling the stomach expand,
Hold for a moment and then slowly release the breath.
Very good.
Let's repeat the cycle of breathing a few more times.
Taking a deep,
Slow breath and bringing all the way down to the toes,
Holding for a moment and then slowly release the breath.
Nice work.
One more time,
Pull in a nice even breath and bring it down deep into the body.
Hold for a moment and then slowly release the breath.
Good job.
Allow your body now to resume a regular peaceful breathing cycle without your direct attention.
As you take a moment to appreciate the way this feels as the body begins to relax and all the tension that the body so commonly holds melts away.
In this moment that is all yours,
Where nobody needs anything from you,
Nobody wants anything from you.
Time enough for that later.
I would like you to imagine that you are floating in a pool of water.
This could be in a bath,
Stream,
Pool,
Lake,
Whatever feels comfortable for you.
And you know that you are very safe there.
So quiet and peaceful and you notice this wonderful feeling of weightlessness as you drift and sway with the water.
As you sink into this feeling of floating and relaxing,
You begin to notice that the water is absorbing any and all tension or stress that has been stored in the body.
You can feel the water cocooning your head and absorbing any pain or tension,
But also any negative thoughts or memories that may be trying to surface or have been causing issues for you in your day to day life.
The water feels so cool on your neck and you can feel your neck release and allow itself to be cradled by the water as it releases any stress or tension.
Any tightness in your muscles drifts away.
The water is able to massage your shoulders as you float and you can feel the muscles unwind and all the weight lifts off them or rather sink off them into the water.
You even notice that your chest and stomach ease.
Though they may be above the water,
Any tension being stored in these areas is released into the water as well as any and all emotions.
Emotions such as fear,
Guilt,
Shame or sadness all release into the water and wash away.
Very good.
The water soothes your hips allowing them to release any tension,
Tightness or pain.
Enjoy that feeling as the hips release.
You are feeling so good now,
So relaxed.
As your legs are soothed as well,
Happy for the rest,
Releasing any pain or tension into the water to be absorbed and transformed.
Your whole body is now so relaxed and resting,
Drifting and floating with the water,
So incredibly relaxed.
Take a moment now to really enjoy and memorize this wonderful feeling.
Let your body really get a sense of what it is to truly feel relaxed and at ease.
No tension,
No pain,
Such a wonderful feeling.
Your body will continue to relax and appreciate this wonderful feeling while we do some important work.
Did you know we all have a well inside ourselves where we store our energy reserves?
We may call it by different names,
A well,
A cup,
A battery,
A tank,
But we all have one.
Whatever you choose to call it is alright,
Whatever works for you.
This is what we will be working on today,
Repairing and refilling the place where your energy reserves are stored.
When it is operating correctly,
This storehouse of energy will be used up a little at a time and then replenished as we rest,
Relax,
Play and create throughout our day or week.
However,
Sometimes we have to delve deeper into our energy reserves.
During times of crisis,
Illness,
Intense stress and then it may take a little longer to fill it back up.
If this happens too often or for too long,
Our reserve may run dry,
Our cup empty,
Our battery's dead and then we will feel exhausted,
Run down,
Emotional,
Perhaps even physically sick.
Even worse,
If the reserve becomes damaged in some way so that any energy that we are able to put back in runs right back out again.
We may feel that we will never be able to fill ourselves back up.
That is what we're going to work on right now.
Here in this wonderful state of relaxation,
We are going to enjoy some time to ourselves to relax,
Heal and recharge.
Wouldn't that be wonderful to heal and refill our energy reserves so that we feel better physically,
Mentally,
Emotionally and spiritually?
I would like for you to imagine what your container looks like.
The container where you hold your energy reserves,
Whatever image comes to mind,
It's perfectly fine.
Take a moment to really thoroughly examine it,
Get to know it,
Get a feel for it.
Good.
Notice if there is any damage to the container.
Check it all over for any cracks,
Holes,
Rifts or tears.
Check for any dents,
Rust spots,
Chipped paint,
Anything that has marred or tarnished it in any way.
Take a few moments now to really carefully look it over.
That's right.
You have plenty of time right now to make any repairs that are needed.
Plenty of time to fill in cracks or holes.
Plenty of time to clean and repair.
All the materials that you need are right there for you.
Take some time right now to make any repairs that are needed.
Very good.
You might find gold or silver to seal up cracks.
You may decide to touch up some paints or even add some new designs.
Very good.
It feels good to know that the container that holds your energy reserves has been completely repaired.
Better than new,
Doesn't it?
And it occurs to you that that container is even stronger now.
Able to hold more and less likely to break following all the repair work that you just did.
And you feel really good about the work you have done.
Now that your container has been completely repaired and ready to hold more energy,
It is time to begin to fill it back up.
This is the time to begin to fill up your energy reserves.
I would like for you to imagine a bright light of your favorite color being poured into the container.
The container is being filled with light and as it fills up,
You begin to feel filled up too.
The feeling may start out slowly but grow as more and more light pours into your container.
Very good.
And as the light pours in,
You also begin to add in other things that you know will bring more and more energy and help to maintain your energy level throughout the days and weeks to come.
This might be anything that comes to mind.
Anything that you know is energizing to you.
For example,
It might be photographs of loved ones or memories of a wonderful time in your life.
It could be gemstones or items of sentimental value,
Crystals,
Favorite songs or soothing music,
Rocks or flowers or herbs or other scents that you find energizing,
Gentle breeze,
A peaceful link,
Anything that you find pleasing,
Soothing or precious.
And as your container fills with light,
Add in these personalized items that will fill it up even more.
And watch the container you store your energy in reach a quarter full,
Then half full,
Then three fourths full.
It may feel to you as if it has never been this full before or maybe not for a very long time.
And you can feel the extra energy in your body.
You may even feel tingling with all the energy you have now.
Such a wonderful feeling and you are doing such wonderful,
Important work.
As the container approaches 100%,
You feel so alive,
So happy,
So positive,
Ready to take on your life,
To take on anything you know that you can handle and take on anything.
The container is completely filled up now and you are feeling wonderful.
Take a few moments now as the light that has been filling it out begins to fade to enjoy this wonderful feeling and to really see and appreciate what it is like when the container is completely full.
Realize this feeling and feel proud of yourself for this wonderful work that you did today.
As with so many things,
It is so much easier to replenish the container,
To fill it back up to full when it is already socked up and full.
And you know that in the days and weeks to come,
You will take time each day,
Each week to check in with your energy reserves.
You will take time to monitor how much is being used and take time to refill it as needed,
Keeping your energy level as close to full as you can.
And you are looking forward to taking care of yourself in this way and to the wonderful effect this will have on your whole life.
In a moment,
I will count from one to five and at the count of five,
You will be wide awake,
Feeling wonderful and ready to continue on your day with this wonderful,
Amazing feeling of having a completely healed and full energy reserve.
