Perfectionism isn't about excellence. It's about fear. This gentle meditation helps you recognize how perfectionism feels in your body and offers a compassionate way forward. Through conscious breathing, you'll explore choosing "good enough" over perfect and discover that your worth isn't tied to your performance. Ideal for moments when you're procrastinating because something won't be "perfect" enough. You'll leave with permission to be beautifully, messily human and a reminder that you are already enough.

Hello and welcome.

I'm Skyler Liberty Rose and today's meditation is on releasing perfectionism.

Please find a comfortable position where you can be still and present.

This might be sitting on a chair with your feet on the ground.

Or lying down if that feels better for you.

Take a moment to acknowledge that you're here.

Choosing to pause.

Choosing to tend to yourself.

That choice alone is enough.

Let's begin with three conscious breaths.

Breathing in through your nose.

And releasing through your mouth.

Again inhaling.

And letting go.

One more time.

Breathing in presence.

And releasing any urgency from your day.

I'd like you to bring to mind the word perfectionism.

Notice what happens in your body when you hear that word.

You might feel tension in your shoulders.

Tightness in your chest.

Or perhaps a familiar heaviness.

Many of us were raised to believe that perfectionism is productive.

A way of showing our commitment to the task at hand.

But notice how it actually feels in your body right now.

I invite you to consider this.

Perfectionism isn't about excellence.

It's about fear.

Fear of being seen as inadequate.

Fear of disappointing others.

Fear of not measuring up to some invisible standard that keeps moving just out of reach.

But right here in this moment you are already enough.

Not because of what you've accomplished.

Or how well you performed today.

You're enough because you exist.

Place one hand on your heart.

And one hand on your belly.

Feel the rise and fall of your body as you breathe in and out.

Now I'd like you to think of something you've been putting off because you fear it won't be good enough.

Maybe it's a project.

A conversation.

Or something that requires you to move out of your comfort zone in some way.

What if good enough was actually good enough?

What if done imperfectly was better than not done at all?

Take a breath and imagine approaching the task or situation with curiosity instead of judgment.

With compassion for yourself instead of criticism.

Perfectionism tells you that your worth depends on your performance.

But your worth is inherent.

It doesn't fluctuate based on whether you got everything right today.

Let's practice releasing the need to be perfect.

With your next exhale,

Imagine breathing out the weight of perfectionism.

That heavy feeling of never being quite enough.

And with your inhale,

Breathe in permission.

Permission to be human.

Permission to make mistakes.

Permission to be beautifully,

Messily imperfect.

Continue this rhythm.

Exhaling the burden of perfectionism.

And inhaling self-compassion.

As we finish,

Remember this.

The people in your life who love you don't love you because you're perfect.

They love you because you're you.

All of you.

And you can love all of yourself too.

When you're ready,

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Take one more deep inhale.

And a releasing exhale.

You can come back to your breath at any time.

Knowing that it will act as a reminder of this moment.

An anchor in your day.

A way of helping you feel at ease.

You are enough.

You have always been enough.

And you can begin again as many times as you need to.

Thank you so much for joining me today.

I'm sending love from my heart to yours.

Thank you for oh so gently reminding us that we are enough here and now, the release was instantaneous! And your voice is in itself so soothing; thank you! 🩵
