I'm a fiction writer, and this is the meditation I've done over the years as a way to prepare for a writing session. Some of my creative friends have asked me to record it so they could give it a try; I hope you find it effective! This begins with centering through the breath, and then imagery/visualization to guide you toward connecting to the unfiltered and unique creative energy within. Be ready to move directly from meditation to your creative project.

Hi and welcome to this meditation to begin a creative project session.

Be sure when you're listening to this meditation that you are ready to move directly from meditating into whatever your creative project might be.

And you can do this meditation seated or lying down,

Whatever speaks to you in the moment.

And now allow your eyes to close.

If that's not comfortable,

No problem,

Just soften your gaze,

Which means not really focusing on one thing.

And let your body soften.

Relax through the jaw.

Let your shoulders melt away,

Down,

Back body.

And let go of any holding or tightness in the belly.

Let your hands be soft.

Begin to connect to your breath.

Just watching your breath as it is.

And now let your attention rest at the tip of your chin.

And take a nice slow breath in and out with your focus resting at the tip of your chin.

And slowly guide your attention to the tip of your nose.

And again here,

Take a slow breath in and out while your awareness rests on the tip of your nose.

Now allow your attention to guide up to the third eye,

That point between the eyebrows.

And again,

Take one long slow breath in and out with your focus resting here.

And now turn your attention inward,

Beginning to notice your inner world.

And first,

Begin to feel what sensation is present within the body.

You might notice it as a buzzing or a tingling,

A pulsing.

Just noticing that sensation of breath,

Of life,

Animating the body,

No right or wrong.

And feel as your attention begins to sink deeper within,

As though you could sense the outer world drifting away.

Deep within you is that quiet,

Still place that is the true you,

The part of you that doesn't age.

It's timeless,

Changeless.

Not the part of you that thinks,

But the part of you that knows your thinking.

Know that this place guides your awareness there in an effortless way.

It pulls you home to that true self within.

Let yourself be guided there.

No right or wrong,

Just feeling,

Sinking inward.

This sacred place within has a silent voice,

A brilliant,

Instinctual guidance system that is stronger than judgment or fear.

Know and trust that even though there is no light that comes on when you connect there,

You are connected to this sacred place within.

In this connection,

You are free.

Begin to visualize doors and windows within you,

Otherwise hidden by influences of the outside world.

Visualize them opening as they open,

Walls dissolve.

This allows the creative energy within you to flow unobstructed.

Visualize a shimmering river of creative energy flowing through you.

Let it be whatever glittering color you see,

Blue,

Pink,

Whatever it is,

See it flowing through you.

Feel it simmering through you.

Creative energy expanding and extending through your entire being,

Gently wrapping around your mind,

Your eyes,

Extending to fingers,

Toes.

Just rest here,

Simmering in the truth that your creative energy is flowing freely.

It has no limits,

No filters.

It has one request,

And that is to be released into the world.

Now with this strong connection to your creative energy,

Begin to visualize your current project,

The story world,

The page,

The canvas,

The instrument,

The room,

Whatever the medium.

Feel yourself gently descending into it,

Becoming part of it.

No separation between you and this piece.

Now take a slow,

Deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly through an open mouth.

Gently flutter your eyes open and begin.
