Welcome to Insights Beyond,

Where I give you insightful things to think about throughout your day.

Today we are going to be digesting toxic positivity.

Toxic positivity is the avoidance of any so-called negative emotions throughout life.

The avoidance of anger,

Shame,

Frustration,

Or sadness.

It is the overexpression of superficial positive words,

Outlooks,

Or experiences that put an astounding pressure on the person to avoid a certain side of themselves,

The shadow side.

Deep down,

People who suffer from toxic positivity are crying out for help.

The side of them that they view as negative has been deeply repressed.

This can cause sadness,

Anger,

And frustration deep in the crevices of the person,

And the only person who will see this is the person beyond the mask of toxic positivity.

Positivity can make us feel great,

It can be really uplifting,

However,

Only when it's coming from a true,

Authentic place,

And not a place of repression or avoidance.

A place where the soul shines bright is a place where everything is accepted,

Including the shadow side,

A side in which integration,

Love,

And acceptance is so important,

Yet can be very difficult to do.

Repressed emotions are a huge issue in today's society.

From our childhoods to our adult lives,

A lot of us have been encouraged to repress and not express.

Emotions such as happiness are put on a pedestal and searched for constantly,

Ironically leading to deep down sorrow and sadness.

Let me leave you with a quote from Judah Krishnamurti.

Happiness is strange,

It comes when you are not seeking it.

Thank you for listening.

If you enjoyed that talk,

You will enjoy my emotions course here on Insight Timer,

Teaching us how to feel and heal again.

I'm looking forward to hearing.

Have a nice day.

Thankyou Nathan . Toxic positivity is definitely a real thing I agree. When you speak about how it suppresses the emotions to create a make believe world which takes us further away from ourselves and our real emotions ..lovely to wake up to this this morning . NAMASTE 😇 🙏
