Hello and welcome to this guided meditation on self-compassion,
Rooted in the teachings of the Buddha on self-compassion and compassion itself.
This practice helps to cultivate a deep sense of self-awareness,
Self-acceptance,
And self-compassion,
Allowing us to fully embrace our strengths and weaknesses,
Cultivating a sense of peace and well-being.
As we proceed,
Feel free to adjust your posture,
Ensuring that you are comfortable,
Relaxed,
And alert.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable seated position,
Either on a cushion,
A chair,
Or lying on the ground.
You can even do this standing.
Gently close your eyes or fix your gaze and allow your body to center and relax,
Taking a few moments and a few breaths to ground yourself in this present moment and releasing any tension you're holding in your arms,
Your legs,
Your back,
Or your neck.
Now,
Bring your attention in to your heart center.
Place your hand on your heart and feel the warmth and energy of your hand radiating to your heart,
Feeling it beat,
And allow yourself to fully embrace this sense of connection and self-compassion,
The gentle beating of your heart,
The presence of this moment,
And the self-love that you can touch and feel.
How often is it that we pay attention to the beating of our heart?
This autonomic vessel,
Which carries us day to day,
Fills us with warmth.
As you continue to breathe,
Bring to mind any areas of your life where you may be experiencing self-criticism,
Self-doubt,
Or self-judgment.
It could be related to your work,
Your relationship,
Your health,
Or anything else that comes to mind.
As you bring these areas to mind,
Repeat the following phrase to yourself,
May I be kind to myself in this moment.
May I be kind to myself in this moment.
May I be kind to myself in this moment.
Allowing yourself to fully embrace this sense of self-compassion,
Recognizing that you are deserving of love,
Kindness,
And compassion.
As you continue to breathe,
Expand your awareness to your thoughts and emotions,
Noticing any thoughts or feelings that arise in your mind,
Noticing them without judgment or attachment,
Whatever they're about,
Simply observing them,
Allowing them to arise and fall of their own volition without clinging.
Now,
Repeat the following phrases to yourself,
Allowing them to sink deeply into your consciousness.
May I be kind to myself.
May I be patient with myself.
May I be compassionate with myself.
May I be kind to myself.
May I be patient with myself.
May I be compassionate with myself.
May I be kind to myself.
May I be patient with myself.
May I be compassionate with myself.
Allowing yourself to fully embrace the sense of self-compassion,
Recognizing that this practice can help cultivate a deep sense of healing and understanding of the self-love for ourselves that we truly deserve.
As we conclude this meditation,
Take a few slow,
Deep breaths,
Healing this sense of calm and self-love that you have cultivated,
And recognize that self-compassion is a practice that requires patience,
Persistence,
And dedication,
But can bring about a truly wonderful positivity and sense of self-love that can be shared with others.
When you are ready,
Gently open your eyes and return to your surroundings,
Carrying the sense of self-compassion that you have cultivated with you as you go about your day.
Thank you.
