The great news is that we can counter these tiny stressors that build up throughout our day with mini relaxation responses that can consist of even just one breath! In this course, you'll learn what micro stress is and how it can ripple into many areas of our lives. We will walk through mini relaxation responses and how to counteract the micro stressors in our lives to slow down the build-up to toxic disease states. We'll walk through some of my favorite mini relaxation antidotes that you can use throughout your day to boost your natural antioxidants. You'll leave with solid scientific reasons that motivate you to incorporate Mini Relaxations throughout your days. This tiny shift in mindset can improve your entire life and prolong your health span, not just your lifespan. Healthspan is the amount of time you spend alive and healthy; lifespan is the total amount of time we are alive. In our modern times, we have a longer lifespan but we spend our last decades and sometimes more in ill health. The purpose of this course is for you to take away the practice of taking mini moments of relaxation anywhere, anytime, and deeply knowing that even one breath can help reset your nervous system, profoundly affecting your life, your loved ones' lives, and rippling out into the world through all those you come in contact.


Meet your Teacher

Juna Bobby, MD, DipABLM, is a faculty member at the Juilliard School Pre-College Division in NYC where since 2016, she has taught the Science of Resilience for Peak Performance elective. Juna is a returning guest faculty member at Harvard Medical School and is certified to teach Stress Management and Resiliency Training and Resilient Youth programs at the Benson Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Juna's passion is to combine neuroscience and evidence-backed self-care tools into digital courses for K-12 and beyond. She is the mother of two amazing, almost grown-up students at Harvard and Princeton University. She's putting everything she taught her kids and more into the courses and books that are in the works! Dr. Juna earned her MD at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. She is board certified and fellowship trained in Diagnostic Radiology and her experience of seeing so much preventable disease from the inside out lead her to get board certified in Lifestyle Medicine. Juna hosts the MindBodySpace Podcast, creates educational videos and courses about sleep and lifestyle medicine, is the Resilience Coach for the Valissima Institute, launched Wellness Programs at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, Columbia Law School, and hosted many other workshops and grand rounds at organizations such as MUFG, Edward Jones, Canyon Ranch, Yale Radiology, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, and more.

Recap And A Pep Talk To Stay Motivated

In this final lesson, we will recap why Mini relaxations are so powerful and how to use them to counteract toxic microstressors. The brain and body work together in a miraculous and complex way. The more we understand our physiology, the more empowered we can be to guide our wellness journey. The purpose of creating this course was so that you could apply the ridiculously simple practice of Mini relaxations immediately. But don't let the seemingly easy part fool you because it's super easy to forget that something so simple can change your entire life and all those lives you touch. I was already aware of how small stressors affect us, because I have digestive issues because of stress, but this course gave some good practical ways to reset throughout the day so that I don't have to internalize those stressors.

Exceptional course! I realize my flare ups from a chronic condition happen because I don’t realize how much daily mini-stressors build up and tip over my scale into illness. When I am unwell, I do a lot of mind body exercises to ease my way back to wellness. And then when I’m feeling better, I forget about practicing. This course helps me see that I need to practice every day as much as possible, particularly when I’m well. The idea that these exercises are “mini” and yet still effective and impactful help make doing them regularly throughout the day feel doable.

Thank you so much for this course Juna! Yes you’ve convinced me of the importance of taking mini relaxations throughout the day. I now start my day with doing 5 min breathing ex, then in the afternoon I go for a walk or listen to meditation for 5min and in the evening, again I do 5 min breathing ex. I am recovering from burn-out and needed this experience to realize my health is too precious to neglect. This is the first course that gave me practical advice that does not entail having a rigorous meditation practice. Having the meditation practice as a prerequisite for reaping the benefits of mindfulness makes it become so unobtainable and the experience becomes riddled with guilt and failure when you don’t manage to mantain it. This course, however, focuses on the science behind the stress that builds up, which is a completely different angle that helps not only to become more aware of when you might need to utilise a mindful approach, but also helps to see how exactly a breath can make a big difference.
