Finding Peace Through Poetry - by Zachary Phillips

COURSE

Finding Peace Through Poetry

With Zachary Phillips

This course will help you find peace through poetry. It will guide you inwards and encourage you to explore the deepest parts of yourself, your shadow, and your soul. It will help you give voice to your inner child and the parts of you that are desperate to speak, express, and release. This is not a course on technical poetry writing. We are not aiming to write a publishable masterpiece, but rather to use the process of writing itself as a form of healing, connection, and growth. Each session begins with a poetry reading that will be combined with a teaching or practice that will help you get words onto the page – each session will be part instruction, part meditation, part introspection and part expression. At the end of each session, you will be invited to share your poetry and ask any questions that arise. In this way you will receive personalized guidance, feedback, and community connection. If you feel called to express yourself through poetry or writing, or intuitively know that you desire to find peace through poetry, this course is for you. I look forward to seeing you in the first session. Welcome!

The poem ‘Music Of The Ever Present Moment’ was used to highlight the freedom of expression and poetic flow that can lead to peace.

Lesson 3

Writing Therapy

In this session we introduce the concept of writing therapy, the idea of using the page as a place to express what otherwise hasn’t been expressed. From there we looked over our words to uncover overarching themes and then attempted to find symbolism as a way to highlight what we are feeling and then subsequently take action, either in life, or on the page. This process of identification and refinement was modeled through the poem ‘I Float’.

This course stirred my creativity and gave color and depth to my healing. And I read my poetry each day to my sisters because I was at my annual Sister Reunion while taking this course. My sisters and I had wonderful healing conversations from my readings. Thank you.😊
