This guided meditation will allow you to feel more balanced and aware. It helps reconnect you with the present moment. It will ground you so you can feel peaceful, calm, and centered. You can practice grounding to focus your mind before practicing silent meditation, Insight Meditation, TM, or any other form of meditation. Source: Meditations with James Van Praagh (2003)

Transcript

This is a grounding meditation.

Everything you do involves awareness and awareness of the energy around you is important while you meditate.

Now close your eyes and become mindful of the breath.

Begin to feel your breath travel deep inside your body.

As you relax,

Let go of the day's concerns.

Place your hand on your belly and the other hand on your chest.

It will help you focus on your breath as you breathe in and you breathe out.

Naturally your mind will drift to other thoughts.

Just notice it and bring your attention back to your breath.

If you find it difficult to focus on your breath,

Just mention the word in as you breathe in and out as you breathe out silently in the privacy of your own thoughts.

If you've had a very busy day or you have many worries,

Your mind might wander a lot.

Don't judge it,

Just bring your attention back to your breath.

I will be silent for a few moments just to get you settled into your breath.

Just focus on your breath,

Breathing in and breathing out.

If your mind drifts,

Just come back to the present moment and focus on your breath.

Now envision a cord gently tied around each ankle.

See these cords going into the floor and down to the very center of the earth.

When they reach earth's center,

Envision two big boulders and tie each of the cords to a boulder.

Next,

Envision a cord tied from your tailbone going through the floor and down to the center of the earth.

Tie this cord to another boulder in the earth's core.

As you visualize the energy of earth,

Imagine the color of earth.

Maybe reddish brown,

Green,

Or whatever color represents earth for you.

See this force of earth rising from the boulders up the cords and into your ankles and tailbone.

Let this energy continue to flow into your body,

Up your legs and torso and into your heart.

Now imagine a golden beam of light about two inches above your head.

This is the cosmic light of universal energy.

Let this light stream down into your head,

Neck,

Shoulders,

And chest until it reaches your heart.

This golden light blends together with earth's energy and enables you to feel grounded,

Stabilized,

And more centered.

Finally,

Visualize half the universal energy and half the earth's energy blend together and rise up from your spine and out the top of your head.

Let it flow down your body like a fountain of force pouring over you.

Just see it flowing over and over until you feel recharged.

You can continue this exercise as long as you want,

Even past the ending of this recording.

Just follow your intuition.

You will feel centered and calm.
