It’s day four of living from love rather than fear. Today, Liz reflects on the river estuary, noticing how it shifts and reshapes itself with the tides. In today’s 5 Minutes in Nature, she realises that seeing people as an estuary is a way of living from love. When we understand that, like the tides, people change with their moods, we begin to see the beauty that remains, regardless of what they’re experiencing in any given moment.

Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott,

Up and about on Dartmoor,

Walking in the last of the sunlight and there's a wonderful orangey glow above the beacon and I can see a runner making his way towards the beacon and as I turn around and turn my back to the sunshine because I'm actually walking in an eastward direction,

I just caught actually as I was walking,

I caught the orangey glow of the sunlight catching the tops of some trees below me,

There's a little woodland copse just kind of walking along and I saw the orange glow on the trees and I thought oh is it autumn,

Is that the orange of the leaves turning into gold,

A bit like when you wake up that just sort of moment of like feeling slightly discombobulated thinking no no it's it's not autumn that must be the sun on the tops of the trees and indeed it was very beautiful and today we're just talking about living from love and not fear if you remember we're exploring this for four days and I want I'm so curious to know how you're getting on bringing your awareness back to love bringing your awareness back to that settled space within you rather than operating or taking action from an unsettled space and I'm actually reflecting on something yesterday which I want to share with you I went for a walk with my sister and we walked down the river erm it was a circular walk down the river erm to a place called Mothercomb which is where the erm reaches the ocean and then we walked back again and it's private land so we needed to ask for permission which we did and we're actually going to walk the length of the erm over the next few months all the way up to where it rises on Dartmoor and on this walk it was magical because I felt as though I was witnessing the land unchanged by man there are very very few places in Devon where you can walk along a river particularly by the estuary and witness a sense of man not having touched the land but here it was like that there were no boats there were no people leisure uses or crafts on the river itself it was just this beautiful beautiful expanse of water as we walked down now the tide was going out and so as we walked down we knew that the journey back would be different because the tide as it went out was going to reveal a different landscape and sure enough we had our lunch on the beach turned around at Mothercomb and then walked back along the river erm again and this time though we could see more clearly the channel of the actual erm the river cutting through the sandy soil and it was also we could see little spits of sand and land being revealed and a flock of oyster catchers came in and landed on one of these sandbanks obviously to feed as the tide was going down and this watery land that we had seen as we had walked down the river was was changing before our eyes it was becoming sandy and there are channels cut into the into the ground and we we felt as though we were witnessing something that was both the same and very different and this just reminded me of living from love it reminded me that people a little bit like this river the river changes the river is constantly changing and moving and when it's tidal like this it changes significantly the tidal waters make it completely change its shape and it reminded me of a person how people how we all we change too as the tide of emotions and thoughts come in to us and change the way we see the world and interact with the world and then when those thoughts and feelings pass by then we experience the world differently and it was like the river we were like we are the same and yet we are different and for me coming from love rather than fear or living from love rather than fear is a bit like witnessing people like the river is knowing that they will seemingly change there will be vast changes that come upon them and yet also knowing that their essence stays the same they are both changing and the same and for me this felt like a reflection on living from love rather than fear don't forget to check out my course on insight time and living from love rather than fear and let me know how you're getting on with your reflections and experiences as you live from love and not fear

I know that I am too much living in my head, still. But hearing your talks each morning is helping me get back to the love more quickly. 🙏🏻

it’s so lovely how Liz is present in nature and then weaves her impressions into the narrative and lesson she wants to impart. Beautiful and thank you! 🙏🏼
