Hello and welcome to five minutes in nature with me Liz Scott out on another sunny afternoon.

I'm on Dartmoor.

I'm on the moor in a slightly different place.

I've come to Peak Moorgate and I've walked quite quickly here because I was cold.

In my office it was quite cool and I wanted to get out and walk quickly so I could warm up and I have which is great.

This morning though it was a really grim grey day and lots of people were saying it was going to be a bit of a nasty old day but the truth is it's glorious.

I'm so glad that the weather doesn't listen to the weather forecast and just does its own thing because today it's come up trumps and as I stand here in the evening sunshine I'm just looking down on the beech trees that are forming a hedge along the wall and the beech trees are dappled green but mainly now orange and golden leaves are coming through and I would imagine those leaves are going to fall very very soon and today and tomorrow I want to talk about thinking and thought.

It's something that I come across time and time again and it's one of the things I find is so helpful to see through and to understand.

So let me start with the perils of believing your thinking and it was shown to me recently when a friend of mine was really concerned and came to me and said do you think it's wise that you go out walking because I think it's quite dangerous and I was a bit baffled really and I said well what do you mean and and she said well I'm really worried that maybe someone will follow you or you might get attacked or you might have an accident don't you worry that something bad might happen to you and the truth is that whilst it very occasionally crosses my mind that that might happen I know to listen into a deeper wisdom a deeper intuition within me and that deeper intuition and wisdom shows me that walking is good for me so it makes every sense to go out walking absolutely and equally I understand that for her is she believes agitated thoughts and thinking thinking and imaginings that have her going out on her own and being attacked for example well it would make every sense for her not to go out because the thing with thinking and thought is that what thought creates looks and feels real that's the nature of what thought does and if you don't deeply deeply understand that and you believe your thinking and you believe what your thoughts are telling you then you end up not trusting the intuition and wisdom that is the guiding force within my life I am very understanding and compassionate for people that get lost in overthinking and thoughts of worries and anxieties and equally I know that they're not being guided by a deeper intelligence their deeper wisdom they're believing their thinking and thoughts to be true so today is just a reminder that our thoughts and thinking can conjure up frightening scenarios and it's so helpful to realize and understand that thought and thinking is not to be trusted thought and thinking its job is to create scenarios that are frightening and scary and warn you about the dangers ahead it's doing a great job and then it's really useful I find to trust my intuition to see what is right for me to do and it might be what I do is I take some precautions so for example when I go walking along the lanes in the dark I take a torch and I wear a fluorescent jacket it makes sense for me to be safe be seen by cars but the thought of potentially having an accident or a car bumping into me when I'm on the lanes just because I think that doesn't stop me from going for a walk I realize for me it's important to get out and get fresh air so I'm not dismissing thought and thinking I'm not saying oh it's just your thought and thinking just ignore it I'm saying that thought and thinking works best when you're balancing it out with your intuition and wisdom when you trust your intuition and wisdom and you trust that that it is giving you good quality information so this is just a reminder thought and thinking if you believe your imaginings you probably will find yourself anxious and worried a lot of the time there's nothing wrong with thought and thinking it's just that there's something else that you can trust it's your wisdom so today I'm inviting you to recognize thought and thinking and whatever it tells you might happen and also to bring your awareness within to your own intuition and wisdom and trust that trust your intuition and wisdom

If we listened to all our thoughts all the Time we wouldn’t do anything, go anywhere, and we would miss out on so much of what life has to offer. Imagine if you had listened to your negative thoughts about walking on your own. This insight community would miss out on your daily wisdom 🙏
