I don't know if you can hear that,
It's like a tiny little click-click-click sound,
Well that is the gorse bushes,
They're like thorn bushes on Dartmoor and their seed pods are like little tiny,
Probably a couple of centimetres long at the most,
Maybe closer to one centimetre,
They look like tiny little pea pods and what happens is they dry in the sun and then eventually the sun dries them so much that the seed pod springs open and sprinkles the seeds around,
Sort of making sure they go a little bit further than just falling beneath the gorse bush itself and this time of year as you walk up on Dartmoor amongst the gorse bushes it's almost like you feel like you've got something wrong with your ears because you can just hear this tick-tick-tick,
Click-click-click sound and you can't quite discern where it's coming from and it's the seed pods bursting on the gorse bushes and today's five minutes in nature is actually just a little bit of a reflection on sharing and spreading whatever it is that you feel is important to share in the world.
Now for me I like to write and I like to share via audios and I'm a coach and I facilitate so all of those are ways that I share in the world and it might be for you that it's through art or music or it might be it's through your job,
Teaching or accountancy or whatever it is that in your life is your way of sharing in the world and I guess the way I would talk about sharing in this context is that this is about you sharing something that feels as though it's a contribution to the world,
It's an expression of your voice in the world,
An expression of what you feel you want to tell people about and today is all about sharing in the same way that the gorse bush with its seed pods bursts open in the sunshine and spreads its seeds far and wide so you are being called to share and there are a few lessons we can learn from the gorse bush.
Firstly is that whatever we have to share needs to be ready like the seed pod until it's absolutely dried by the Sun and ready to burst and to become a seed that potentially might grow into another gorse bush until that moment it's not quite ready so just be aware that whatever you need to share needs to be ready and then the second thing to realize is that as well as being ready you need to express yourself you need to articulate to get into the world whatever it is you want to share keeping something close to yourself or not sharing it is no way to contribute to the world so contribution is about being ready and also it's about that act of sharing that act of the gorse pods being ready and then bursting in the Sun they are shared out and then the third thing to realize is that it's not on you as to whether or not your form of contribution is taken up or not it's not on you whether somebody thinks your ideas are good whether somebody acknowledges your art or listens to the songs that you are singing it's not on you whether people listen to the voice recordings that I make on insight timer I know deeply that I am being called to share and I am listening to that calling and sharing so just a reminder those three areas to remember is one firstly make sure you're ready secondly make sure you express yourself articulate yourself in the world that's like the seed pod bursting and thirdly in the same way that the seeds may or may not grow what you share may or may not be acknowledged or listened to or heard or taken up and that is absolutely fine that's not on you what's on you is to share whatever your contribution is in the world
