Hello and welcome to Five Minutes in Nature with me,
Liz Scott.
And I am here at a very special place.
I'm in Glastonbury.
And Glastonbury is known the world over as a spiritual centre.
If you are curious about ley lines or energy currents,
Apparently lots of them pass through Glastonbury.
It's meant to be a very,
Very spiritual place.
And I've come to the Abbey.
Abbey,
Right in the centre of Glastonbury itself.
The Abbey takes up a wonderful,
It's like a large park,
Right in the middle of the town centre.
And I'm sitting under the shade of a tree,
Very curious about the energy currents,
The Michael and Mary energy currents that pass through here and I followed them on my pilgrimage last year.
And when I came today with a group of friends,
I thought I would go and explore the wider expanse of the Abbey grounds.
And it's so curious that I feel so drawn,
First of all,
To take my shoes and socks off and just walk on the grass with bare feet,
But also curious because I don't feel the urge to go exploring with a little map and guide they give you.
Instead,
I've just found some shade.
I've sat on the grass.
And felt the energy of the land.
And that for me is what I really hear here in Glastonbury is there is a certain energy,
Particularly here in the Abbey and in the other places I'll be visiting later today,
Where there's a stillness.
And there are people that are walking around,
Looking at the different ruins of the Abbey,
And there are others that are just like me,
Sitting.
Sitting and absorbing the energy.
So this isn't as though I'm out in nature where there is nothing around me apart from the beauty of nature.
For me this feels as though this is a ground,
A place that is sacred and over the years it has been honoured in that way.
So today I'm curious about whether you have a place,
Somewhere that feels as though you're walking in.
.
.
In the steps of those before you,
Where the energy feels different,
Where the veil between the physical and the spiritual feels thin.
Certainly here that is the case.
And I feel that we've lost,
In our busy worlds,
This connection to the land,
This connection to the holy,
This reverence,
This ability to just take time to be.
And that's what today is all about.
Where do you find that space of stillness?
Where does the land talk to you?
Where do you get called to go to be present?
It feels to me as though my life,
Ever since I walked this pilgrimage last year,
630 miles across England,
It feels as though my life has steadily been speeding up with things to do.
And this is like a reminder,
It's like I'm being dipped in water and reminded,
Refreshed,
Resourced to come back to that place of slowness and of stillness.
It's important for me to have these moments in my life.
And I'm actually wondering as I'm talking to you whether maybe it's rather than saying I want to have moments of stillness in my life,
What would it be like to live a life of stillness where there are moments of activity?
And I'm just allowing that to sink in as I'm talking to you.
What would that be like?
Let me know about stillness in your life,
About sacred places that you visit.
Where is it that you go where you feel the energy and you feel that sense of slowing down and being connected to the land or the area itself?
I'd love to know your reflections.
And of course,
Don't forget to join me again tomorrow for another five minutes in nature.
