Hello there,
My name is Lisa and welcome to your beginner's somatic dance audio guide.
For somatic dance,
There is really no right or wrong way to go about it.
It's mostly dancing how you feel.
This dance will include drumming and my own somatic chanting where I just chanted in the moment how I felt to really bring the experience all together.
So move in any way that you feel,
Especially if you love moving,
Doing 10 minutes in the morning or at night can really help release stress,
Reduce anxiety,
And all kinds of other good things to help you live a little bit more peaceful of a life.
So with that,
My friends,
Let's go ahead and dive on in.
I will be your guide through this.
Feel free to maybe start just simply listening to the drums as you tune on in to how you're feeling.
Maybe we sway naturally from side to side.
Maybe we're moving from that space in the heart and the hips and the head where we feel.
Our emotions,
But where do we feel our emotions in the body?
We feel grief or anger or joy or ecstasy.
How do we wish to move our toes,
Our fingers,
Our shoulders,
Our hips,
Our belly,
Our heart?
How does the body wish to move to meet the emotion?
Breathing in to this moment.
Maybe sighing out,
Maybe somatic sighing,
Releasing your day.
Releasing any to-do lists,
Just being one with the moment,
Letting it all go.
Allowing yourself to simply get lost.
And movement that feels physically good.
Knowing there is no right or wrong way.
Feel free to lose yourself to the movement,
The dance.
From here on out,
I will release you to move in any way you feel.
To cry,
To shout,
To grieve.
But this is your time to express any emotions.
Need expressing in a safe space just for yourself.
Beautiful,
My friends.
Getting ready to slowly bring the movement down or not.
Maybe you need to do this a few more times.
Just allow yourself,
If you are ready,
To close the practice.
Starting to take it a bit slower.
Or finishing up any movements that need expressing.
As the drumming slowly comes to a close.
Taking a moment to really find yourself,
Your breath.
The steadiness of this present moment and notice how you feel now.
Or when you first started this practice.
In any shift,
Any change,
Any release.
It's always a beautiful thing.
So with that,
My friend,
Thank you so much for practicing with me.
Feel free to share how this practice made you feel,
And I'll see you next time.
Bye for now.
