This exercise is from Keziah's 30-day Tarot course here on Insight Timer, but can also be used on its own. Find your balance between the four Tarot suits of Swords, Wands, Cups and Pentacles. This is a visualisation with an energy work aspect.

Transcript

So,

Finding somewhere comfortable where you won't be disturbed and then settling yourself in to a nice meditative posture.

You might be seated,

You might be lying down,

It doesn't really matter too much,

Just so long as you're comfortable.

Your body can be relaxed and free.

And you can stay here for a few minutes as we do the meditation.

So before we start,

Just tuning in to yourself and noticing what you've brought with you today.

So this might be thoughts,

Emotions,

Sensations,

Whatever it is,

Just noticing.

And if there's anything that you don't want to carry with you,

You can just ask it to leave now.

You might even put it aside for the moment,

Knowing that you can always come back to it if you need it.

And then coming back to yourself,

To your bodily awareness,

Aware of your posture,

Any sensations,

Aware of your breath.

And if you like,

Just taking a deep breath in and then a little sigh out as you release anything that you're ready to release now.

Being aware of any sounds around you and any thoughts that may be drifting past and just allowing them to continue to drift past.

Not making them an object of focus,

Just letting them do their thing while you do yours.

And then finding within you that space that is your centre.

So you might locate this in your solar plexus or a little lower down in that creative space in your belly or higher up in your heart space.

Just reaching for that part of you which feels most like centre now.

And then from that place of centre,

Turning outwards and sending your attention towards the east.

That's roughly the direction where the sun rises.

And you're opening yourself up to the energy of the suit of swords.

So with your attention tuned towards the east and if you like visualising a sword or swords,

Just open yourself to what's there.

Remembering this is the suit of the mind,

The intellect and justice.

The element of air.

And noticing just how easily that energy does or doesn't come to you.

And noticing your own responses.

And then retaining your connection with the suit of swords.

Bringing your own energy back to yourself,

Back to that centre space.

That space inside you,

From which you call to the energies.

And now sending your attention out to the south.

That's roughly the direction in which you'll find the sun at midday.

And opening to the energy of the suit of wands.

So reaching towards the south and if you like imagining a big wand or staff in front of you now.

And just being open to what that brings.

Remembering this is the suit of the spirit and of creativity.

The element of fire.

And noticing just how easy it may be to connect with that energy.

And noticing your own responses.

And then retaining your connection with the suit of wands.

And remembering your connection with the suit of swords.

Calling your energy back to you now.

Back to this centre space inside you.

And then sending your attention towards the west.

That's roughly the direction of the sunset.

And opening to the suit of cots.

So really receptive towards the west now.

And you might even imagine a big cup or a cauldron in front of you now.

Open to what that brings.

Remembering this is the suit of the heart and of the emotions.

The element of water.

And noticing the qualities of your connection with that energy.

And noticing your own responses.

And then retaining your connection with the suit of cots.

And remembering your connection with the suits of wands and of swords.

Returning to that centre space within you.

From which you are having this experience.

And then sending your attention towards the north.

That's roughly the direction in which your shadow falls in the daytime.

And opening to the suit of pentacles.

Really feeling into the north now.

And you might feel that it's appropriate to picture a big pentacle or a coin in front of you.

Open to the possibilities.

Remembering this is the suit of the material of your physical body.

The element of earth.

And noticing how your connection with the suit of pentacles feels.

And your own responses to the energy.

And then retaining your connection with the suit of pentacles.

And remembering your connection with the suits of cots,

Wands and swords.

Bringing your attention back to your centre space.

So that you become very aware of yourself.

An energetic being centred in this space.

With a relationship with each of the suits,

One in each direction.

And then just really sense into that energetic reality.

Tuning in.

Feeling out.

And notice whether,

Here in this central point,

You have any kind of a sense of balance.

And if you're not yet completely balanced out.

If you feel that any of the energies are too strong or too weak.

Just notice if you can recalibrate that now.

So you might send out a strong intention or invitation for the energies to balance themselves.

Or if you like,

You might use your breath to direct the energies.

Pulling energy in as you breathe in.

Pushing it in a certain direction as you breathe out.

Just experiment with that for a moment.

Noticing what you can change.

And knowing that,

Whatever the current energy balance is,

That's okay.

For the real purpose of this exercise is to just be here.

Building a relationship with those energies.

And as you work with the tarot at all levels,

You'll start to find your balance much more intuitively.

And then thanking the four suits,

The swords,

The wands,

The cups and the pentacles for being with you today.

And gently releasing your connection with them.

Letting them fade from your awareness.

Knowing that you can always come back to them to strengthen this relationship.

Coming back to your center now.

Preparing to return to the room and to the rest of your day.

So taking a big deep breath wherever you are.

In through the nose and out through your mouth.

That's right.

And again,

A strong conscious breath.

In through your nose and out through your mouth.

Just let it all out.

And a third and final time,

Breathing in that lovely fresh oxygen into your lungs.

Sending it all around your body.

And then letting go of anything you don't need as you breathe out.

And you might want to have a stretch now or a wiggle as you come back to your full alertness.

Aware of the sounds around you.

Aware of the room you're in.

And as you're ready,

Opening your eyes,

Giving a little smile and getting ready to go about your day.

I’m in the Southern Hemisphere so I wasn’t sure if the directions were right for here, so I followed your instructions but I’ll check whether I need to change my focus for North and South.
