This meditation is primarily a relaxation, incorporating breathing and visualisation techniques to balance your hormonal system and the energies within your body. For adult women, this meditation works on both conscious and unconscious levels, and it's perfectly safe and may even be pleasant to drift off to sleep with at the end of the day. There are long periods of silence whilst you breathe and visualise, and the meditation will be formally closed with words. For best results use regularly and in conjunction with your other self-care techniques. Women's Wellbeing Meditations, from the album of the same name, are inspired by the women around me and the challenges, big and small, that we face. Each meditation is a gentle and caring tool to heal and help you. Using a combination of mindfulness, visualisation, energy and trance.

Transcript

We'll start this meditation for hormonal balance with a short relaxation and then go on to some breathing exercises followed by a visualization to help send the message to your body and to those parts of your mind which send signals to the body that it's time to balance those hormones right now.

During the meditation I won't mention the names of any specific hormones.

This is to allow your unconscious mind and your body to balance in the way that's right for you.

Not everybody has the same imbalances.

Okay so starting now by just being aware of your breathing.

And being aware of the rest of your body.

Your weight on the surface that supports you.

And just noticing now that it's okay to release any tension and you will remain supported.

Bringing attention to the top of your head.

Noticing any sensation.

And releasing any tension.

Down to your face,

The back of your head.

And the sides of your head.

Breathing and releasing.

All the time just remembering your breathing.

Allowing it to come just as easily and as deeply as it can now.

Bringing attention to your neck and shoulders.

Noticing and releasing.

Your arms.

Noticing any sensation.

And inviting in a relaxation.

Coming now to your chest,

Upper back,

Abdomen,

Lower back.

Noticing those sensations.

Breathing and relaxing.

Coming to your hips,

Pelvis,

Buttocks,

Genitals.

Noticing any sensation.

Releasing and relaxing.

Bringing your focus down,

Your legs,

All the way down,

Past your knees to your ankles and feet.

Noticing,

Releasing,

Relaxing.

And just allowing whatever surface it is that you're sitting or lying on to fully take your weight and to support you completely.

Bringing your attention now to your breathing.

And if you can and if it's easy for you.

Breathing in and out through your nose now.

And as you do,

Imagine that your breath is going straight to your pineal gland.

Your pineal gland is somewhere around about the center of your head,

Behind your forehead.

And this is the gland that regulates your sleep patterns.

So just imagining now,

Each time you breathe in,

That you're sending fresh oxygen straight to your pineal gland.

Having it find just the right amount of stimulation and balance.

And then again,

Going down,

Bouncing that forearm and pushing up and back and forth you you you that's right underneath your pineal gland is your hypothalamus the hypothalamus links the endocrine and nervous systems and is in charge of temperature regulation hunger,

Thirst,

Sleep,

Mood and sex drive so if you take your attention now belt the center of your head behind that spot between your eyebrows just imagine that you're breathing into and out of your hypothalamus bringing it fresh oxygen providing just the right amount of stimulation you you you okay and under your hypothalamus is your pituitary gland slightly forward of the center of your head just behind the top part of your nose your pituitary is a pea-sized gland which governs reproduction,

Maturation,

Reproduction and lactation it also sends out hormones which stimulate other glands such as your adrenal and thyroid glands and it produces oxytocin a feel-good hormone that assists in relief from pain so taking your attention now to your pituitary gland and taking your attention now to your pituitary gland coming back to your breath and just imagining that you are breathing into and out of your pituitary gland you you you good you're going to bring your attention down now to your thyroid which is located at the front of your throat your thyroid is butterfly-shaped and governs metabolic,

Heart and digestive functions as well as muscle control,

Brain development and bone maintenance so as you breathe now just imagine that you're sending your breath in and out of your thyroid gland you you you you you and maintaining your focused breathing on your throat area I wonder if you can become aware now of your parathyroid glands four glands,

Two on each side of the thyroid just behind the wings of the thyroid butterfly and your parathyroid glands regulate calcium levels so continuing to breathe now into and out of the parathyroid glands you you you that's right now just release your attention from the throat area and bring your focus down now to the adrenal glands which are situated on top of your kidneys so in your lower back let's say an open hands breath from the base of the spine and on either side of the spine there are two of them your adrenals regulate blood sugar,

Burn protein and fat and importantly react to any stresses and are crucial in any stress response so focusing your attention now on your adrenals once again just imagine that you're sending your breath in and out of your adrenals you you you you okay taking your focus away now from your adrenals and bringing your attention to your ovaries which are in your lower abdomen at about hip level on either side your ovaries regulate your menstrual cycle and fertility and govern most of the female hormones so focusing now on your ovaries and just breathing in and out through your ovaries bringing oxygen allowing your ovaries to find the right balance of stimulation you you you you you you you you you and now releasing your attention from your ovaries notice again your whole body your breathing your weight supported by whatever is underneath you and imagine now that you find yourself by a waterfall the water flows strongly into a crystal clear pool at the bottom before flowing merry and gurgling away from this place you allow yourself to step into the pool so that the water cascades over your head body and as it does so allow it to wash away any excess hormones which are not helpful for you listening to the life-affirming rush of the water feeling it wash over you and then away watching the clear water carry away any hormones which no longer serve you and you may find that you're able to release and let go of other toxins sensations unhelpful thoughts or even any emotions which you're ready to let go of now just let the water wash it all away now feeling cleansed step out of the pool and on the bank you find a table and on the table is a scale it's the old-fashioned kind where you put a weight in one side and then whatever you're weighing in the other kneeling in front of the table you pick up a golden weight holding it in your hand feeling its weight noticing how it shines but what really astounds you is that the weight is a perfect likeness of yourself you are sitting serene and calm with a joyful expression on your face there are also several pots with different colored glass beads and you know that these are your hormones curiously and playfully knowing that you can always make any adjustments that you need to you put the replica of yourself in one side of the scales and begin to put the glass beads from one of the colors on the other side when the scales are balanced you stop take some time to just imagine doing this now with all of the different colored beads which you have in front of you what looks like it does in reality When you have found your balance,

You step back into the pool and its fresh water invigorates you.

You're almost ready to come back to the room now.

Feeling refreshed,

Balanced and alive.

So come back once again to your breath and your body,

Noticing how you feel now,

Noticing any sounds around you in the room.

And whenever you're ready,

You can open your eyes.

The focus on internal glands was a first for me and it was very enlightening. The verbal teaching and silence very balanced. I no longer have ovaries but I focused on the space where they were for over half my life. I will return to this meditation and share it with other women. πŸ§‘πŸ™πŸΌπŸ

Feeling better after one sessions. Breathing into each hormone producing organ. How long are pauses? Sometimes would drift away. Interesting to find out how long they are. Thanks
