Visualizing Ease: Relief From Hormonal Discomfort

With Kel Norman

This course is all about relief. Together we will practice visualization techniques designed to ease hormonal symptoms of PMS, PMDD, Menopause and PCOS. The main premise of our work together is: the body is a venue, but you are the audience. What's happening inside you is like what happens on a stage: it is simply a passing phenomenon, and even when it comes to chronic pain or other issues, you are still the one experiencing it. You are not trapped. You are not your hormones. You are the boss of your mind. Using the technique of visualization, we will realize three important truths: -Your awareness is not confined to your body. You will create spaciousness around your body and then fill that space with our awareness. -Your frequency isn't permanent, and you are in control. You will learn how to sense your current state, and understand how to make subtle shifts in your awareness that bring you closer to where you want to be. -Your nervous system is a tool, and you are the boss. You will master nervous system first aid that you can bring into any moment of pain or discomfort to immediately get some space and relief. Thanks for joining me.

Meet your Teacher

Why are some menstrual cycles like hurricanes, while others are like spring rain? Kel had been searching for relief ever since she was a teenager and found that doctors were not helpful. Not really. She's been a student of mindfulness for ten years and developed her own techniques for bringing immediate relief to her symptoms. Whether it's mental anguish from luteal depression or physical pain from a menstrual migraine, Kel's approach empowers her students to bring healing to themselves.

Lesson 1

The Body Is A Venue

We are not here to solve the mystery of our bodies. We are here to go into it. We suffer when we want to close the distance between the way things are and the way we want them to be. But what if instead, we used our energy to focus on what's happening right now and then introduce small and subtle shifts to the way we perceive it?

Lesson 2

Spacious Awareness

The practice of visualization is proof that we are not confined to our bodies. In our minds, we are able to travel through time and space, imagine completely novel scenarios, and even invent worlds. This practice breaks us free of the confines of our bodies. Our minds can bring us to a limitless space, liberated from things like borders or physical hindrances.

Lesson 3

Intro To Frequencies

A "frequency" is just a word I use to describe a mood or a vibe. It often feels like moods are out of our control; we can be hit with one and suddenly we're disoriented. It feels like we are trapped somewhere inside this mood, powerless to do anything. But there are, in fact, subtle shifts that we can make in our energetic experience of the moment that can lift us up and out of a heavy frequency and into a healing one. It may not stop the pain or discomfort, but we can be with our discomfort, resting in a healing frequency. It's easy, watch.

Lesson 4

Regulation Meditation

This meditation can be used daily as a practice of first regulating the nervous system, and then gently tuning your frequency. The idea is: find a baseline for your energy and then make subtle changes in order to "be" in a different place. We may never be able to cure our bodies of whatever symptoms we have — bodies can sometimes just be uncomfortable places to live. But, we can shift our energetic response to the body by simply going to another frequency.

Lesson 5

SOS Visualization - Warm Honey

This is an emotional first-aid for hormonal discomfort. Use it anytime you feel overwhelmed by where you are. It's useful for both physical and mental discomfort, and you may find it is useful after the Regulation Meditation. Challenge yourself to try to change your frequency before beginning, so that you can start out in a neutral or even "higher" frequency than pain or discomfort. You can be "at ease" with pain and discomfort, I know it.
