
Sleep Meditation With Affirmations For Pitta Dosha
This sleep meditation was created to be especially balancing for the Ayurvedic pitta dosha, which benefits people with a pitta constitution or imbalance. However, it can also be enjoyed by anyone. The meditation includes a visualization of floating on a cool lake at night, a yoga nidra-inspired body scan, and affirmations to promote calmness, surrender, trust, flow, and inner peace. Welcome to your sleep meditation.
As you begin to settle yourself for a long night of peaceful deep sleep.
Take some time to make sure that you are as comfortable as you can possibly be.
Do whatever you need to do to bring your body into the most comfortable position to sleep in tonight.
Make use of your pillows and your sheets and blankets to support your body in any way that you need to.
See if you can find a position that you can feel 100% comfortable to rest in so that you will not feel distracted by your body as you float away into sleep.
And as your body becomes more comfortable and settled,
Bring the awareness to the breath and follow the gentle flow of the breath coming in and going out of your body.
Watch the slow rising and falling of the chest and the abdomen as the breath flows in and out.
And watch the breath naturally slowing down as you continue to relax.
Feel how with every exhalation the whole of the body becomes more relaxed,
More peaceful,
More ready to fall asleep.
Now see yourself sitting beside a quiet still lake in the evening time.
The sun is just beginning to set upon the horizon and the first stars of the night are just becoming visible in the sky.
Beside you is a basket of white flowers.
You take one of the flowers into your hands.
And as you hold the flower,
You become aware of anything from the day that you don't need to carry into your sleep with you.
Any thoughts,
Any plans,
Any stresses or worries.
Feel those things moving out of your mind and into the flower.
And then gently place the flower onto the lake and watch the flower float away upon the surface of the lake.
Now take another flower into your hand and feel any stresses,
Thoughts or dramas from the day flowing out of your mind and into that flower.
And now place that flower onto the lake and watch it gently float away.
Repeat this with all of the flowers in the basket,
Allowing any concerns from your day to flow into the flowers and float away onto the lake.
Until the basket is empty and your mind is quiet,
Peaceful and still.
Now see yourself slowly standing up and stepping into the lake.
You feel the cool water around your legs and your feet.
And you walk into the middle of the lake,
Lie down and float upon the surface of the water.
The cool water supports your body as you completely let go and allow yourself to gently float.
In the night sky above you,
The stars glisten and the light of the full moon beams down onto your body.
Floating here on the surface of the quiet lake,
You are free to completely surrender into rest.
As you float here,
Create a picture in your mind of yourself deeply at rest.
See yourself sleeping peacefully through the whole of the night,
Quiet,
Tranquil and still.
Deeply at peace.
And as you peacefully float upon the still water,
Become aware of the silver moonlight shining down onto your body,
Illuminating the different parts of your body.
The silver moonlight shines down onto the space between your eyebrows.
Become aware of your eyebrow centre,
Illuminated by silver moonlight,
And the space between your collarbones.
Silver moonlight shines down to illuminate the space between your collarbone and your right shoulder.
Silver moonlight illuminates the right shoulder,
The right elbow,
The right wrist,
The right pelvis.
And silver moonlight shines down to illuminate the tip of the right hand thumb,
The tip of the right index finger,
The tip of the right middle finger,
The tip of the right ring finger.
And the tip of the right little finger.
Moonlight beams down onto the right wrist,
The right elbow,
The right shoulder,
The space between the collarbone,
The left shoulder,
The left elbow,
The left wrist,
The tip of the right hand thumb,
The tip of the left index finger,
The tip of the left middle finger,
The tip of the left ring finger,
