This Yoga Nidra session was inspired by the astrological sign of Taurus. Taurus, the bull, is the sign of the material world, the physical body, the senses, values, love and beauty. The practice contains multiple long body scans, and nature visualisations. It is suitable for everyone, but those with a significant Taurus placement in their chart may find it to be especially useful or inspiring. tier Image by Viri Gutierrez

Transcript

This Yoga Nidra practice has been inspired by the astrological sign of Taurus.

Taurus is the second sign of the Zodiac and is symbolised by the bull.

It rules the second astrological house and is ruled by the planet Venus.

Taurus is the fixed earth sign.

It's the sign of the material world and the senses,

Of pleasure and enjoyment,

Comfort,

Values,

Love and beauty.

And themes of Taurus are woven into this practice.

The practice is suitable for everyone,

But those with a significant Taurus placement in their chart may find it especially useful or inspiring.

So make sure that you're comfortable to begin your practice.

Take some time to bring yourself into the most comfortable position that you can find for yourself.

Use blankets,

Pillows and props to support yourself.

And if you need to pause the recording whilst you make yourself comfortable,

Do that now.

Right now,

Make your own comfort your absolute priority.

And feel your body beginning to settle into the surface beneath you.

Give yourself permission to relax.

And feel yourself gently letting go.

And as you continue to settle,

See if there are any final adjustments that you can make to make yourself even more comfortable.

See if you can make yourself so comfortable that you might even forget that the body's there at all.

And sometimes during the practice,

A feeling of needing to move does arise.

So if you do feel that need to move at any time,

That's okay.

But be mindful to move yourself slowly and carefully,

So as not to disturb the rest of your body.

Now bring your awareness into your nose and become aware of anything that you can smell.

There's no need to think about what the smells are or where they're coming from.

Just observe them.

And move your awareness into your mouth and become aware of any tastes.

Again,

It doesn't matter what they are,

Just observe that the tastes are there.

Now move the awareness to the space behind your closed eyes.

What do you see behind your closed eyes?

Observe any shapes,

Colours or patterns arising behind the eyes,

Without getting too involved in them.

Just notice that they're there.

And the skin.

Bring your awareness to your skin and feel the sensations against your skin.

The feeling of the air against your skin and your clothing against your skin.

Feel the different feelings against your skin.

And now bring your awareness into your ears and become aware of any sounds that you can hear.

Sounds from far away in the distance.

Sounds from closer to you.

Sounds from inside the room.

And sounds from your body.

The sound of your breath.

And the sound of your heartbeat.

Welcome all of the sounds.

Knowing that they will not disturb you.

But will only help you to relax even more deeply.

Now imagine yourself in a place where you feel like you're in a forest.

And you can hear the sounds of the trees.

And the sounds of the trees.

The whole of the body together.

Feel your body becoming heavy.

Feel your body becoming heavier and heavier.

Feel your body becoming so heavy that you sink into the earth and become a part of the earth.

Feel yourself sinking down into the earth,

Into the soil,

Becoming one with the earth.

Feel heaviness throughout the whole of the body.

Heaviness in the body.

Heaviness in the body.

And now feel your body becoming very light.

Feel your body becoming lighter and lighter.

Feel your body becoming so light that you float away into the sky and become a part of the sky.

Feel yourself expanding into the sky,

Becoming one with the sky.

Feel lightness in the body.

Lightness in the body.

Lightness in the body.

And can you feel both of those at the same time?

Are you able to feel your body so heavy that you sink into the earth,

And so light that you float away into the sky at the same time?

Can you be one with the earth and one with the sky at the same time?

Can you feel heaviness and lightness in the body together?

Heaviness and lightness together.

Heaviness and lightness together.

Now invite to arise the feeling of stubbornness.

Feel the feeling of being very stubborn.

Notice where you feel it in your body.

The feeling of stubbornness.

Intensify your awareness of feeling stubborn and unmovable.

Feel stubbornness in the body.

The feeling of stubbornness.

The feeling of stubbornness.

And now invite a feeling of flexibility.

Feel the feeling of being very flexible and easily changeable.

Notice where you feel it in your body.

The feeling of flexibility.

The feeling of flexibility.

And can you feel both of those at the same time?

Are you able to feel stubborn and flexible at the same time?

Can you feel stubbornness and flexibility in your body together?

Stubbornness and flexibility together.

Stubbornness and flexibility together.

Bring your awareness to the breath.

Feel the breath flowing in and out of your body.

And observe the rising and falling of the chest as you breathe in and out.

Feel the movements of the chest with the breath.

And feel how the abdomen also rises and falls with each breath.

Follow the movements of the chest and the abdomen each time you breathe in and out.

Feel the small movements that happen all over the body with every inhalation and exhalation.

Feel the movements in the arms and the legs,

In the hands and the feet,

As you inhale and as you exhale.

Now shift your awareness to the space behind your forehead,

And we'll begin the rapid visualisation of images.

Allow an impression of each one to arise as it's named.

There's no need to force it,

Just allow each one to come by itself,

However it comes.

We'll start with an orchard.

Green leaves growing on the trees in springtime.

A cow chewing grass,

Hugging a loved one.

The smell of chocolate.

A precious gemstone.

A field of lavender.

A white bull.

Your favourite meal.

A beautiful painting.

Relaxing in a hammock.

A silver coin.

A vase of flowers.

Petting an animal.

Two lovers holding hands.

See yourself standing in front of a blank canvas.

Beside you,

You have everything you need to create a beautiful picture.

Without thinking about it too much,

Paint a picture on the canvas.

Watch the beautiful image arise as you create it.

Imagine that you are walking through a beautiful garden.

It's a warm,

Sunny day,

And an abundance of plants,

Trees and flowers surround you.

You peacefully stroll through the garden,

Enjoying all of the colours and the beauty of the place.

One flower catches your eye.

You walk over to smell the flower,

And you breathe its sweet scent into your body.

There's a fruit tree standing beside you.

You take a piece of fruit,

Bite into it,

And enjoy its sweet taste.

You run your fingers along some soft leaves,

Enjoying their smooth texture.

And you listen to the harmonious sound of birds singing.

You sit down in the garden and welcome all of the beauty around you.

The sun slowly glides down the sky towards the horizon,

And the colours change as evening time arises.

You lie back and look up at the sky,

And you watch the changing colours of the sky.

And as night time arrives,

Silver stars appear in the sky,

And the full moon rises,

Bathing you in silver moonlight.

You relax into the earth beneath you,

And take in the beauty of the night sky.

The moon makes its way across the sky,

And daylight returns as the sun begins to rise again from behind the horizon.

You stand up and admire the garden once more.

In a corner of the garden,

You see a small pool.

You walk over to it.

The first rays of sunlight glisten upon the surface of the pool.

And as you gaze into the water,

A vision of great beauty rises to the surface.

What do you see in the water?

If you made an intention at the beginning of the practice,

Recall that intention now.

Whatever your intention was,

To rest,

To explore,

To enjoy the practice or something else,

Remember it now.

And now invite the feeling of absolute safety and wellbeing to arise again.

Feel yourself completely safe,

Secure and well.

Absorb yourself in the feeling.

Safety,

Security,

Wellbeing.

This is your feeling that you have cultivated,

And that you can return to at any time that you need it,

In your practice and in your life.

Now gently begin to turn your awareness back outwards.

Become aware of any sounds that you can hear.

Just let the awareness jump from sound to sound.

There's no need to get involved in what they are or where they're coming from.

Just notice that the sounds are there.

And notice the feeling of the air against your skin,

And the clothing against your skin.

Can you paint a picture in your mind of the room that you're in?

Can you picture the walls,

The ceiling,

The floor,

The furniture,

The items in the room,

And your own body?

Now begin to deepen the breathing and prepare to end the practice.

Make some small movements with your fingers and your toes.

Circle your wrists and your ankles,

And give yourself a stretch.

Take your time.

There's no rush.

When you feel ready,

Slowly blink your eyes back open.

This practice of Yoga Nidra is now complete.

Thank you for listening.

Jessica, there’s not enough words to say how much much I love this meditation. The long body scan in your peaceful, calming pace is beautiful. I’ll need to listen again as I feel into a deep sleep about 3/4’s in. All my thanks, gratitude and appreciation. 🙏🏻💜
