Jaene Leonard

Stanford Ambassador of Compassion and Certified iRest Yoga Nidra teacher Jaene has led meditation in the Bay Area of California for over 12 years. She was Chief Meditation Officer and co-founder of Compassionate Veterans, a peer support group in which she closed out the session with a practice of Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra. iRest is excellent for a quick reset, delicious power nap, or restful night's slumber. On a deeper level, iRest can also help heal trauma, restore deep & regenerative sleep, increase present-moment focus, and build & support resilience — something we all need a lot of these days. The iRest somatic protocol was developed by Jaene's teacher Richard Miller, PhD, (clinical psychologist, researcher, and yogic scholar, and founder of iRest Institute -- find his awesome meditations here on Insight Timer). The accessible language of the practice (no woo-woo) was honed in a feasibility study with Walter Reed Army Medical Center aimed at assessing the benefits of iRest for military personnel returning from combat. iRest was shown to have benefit in alleviating the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress, and has also been shown in subsequent scientific trials to be effective in addressing chronic pain, sleep problems, depression, and anxiety. (Yoga Nidra is also now known as NSDR/Non-Sleep Deep Rest, a term coined by neuroscientist Andrew Huberman.) Jaene is also a writer and lover of all fuzzers.

Thank you for this wonderful and healing Nidra. I’m so pleased it had background music as that’s the only thing that I feel is missing with other iRest Nidra’s 🙏🙌💕🧚‍♀️🪄

I’m not currently having an anxiety attack but I going into a stressful situation. I think I would need a longer version if I was having an anxiety spiral. I found the teacher’s voice soothing. I appreciated the suggestion to think of a person who I felt seen by. Thank you for offering this.

I usually prefer meditations without background music. But this was yummy. I do so love the language of iRest yoga nidra. It helps me feel safe and whole. I hope you will make more. Thank you for this one. Edit: this morning the background music was a huge distraction and my thoughts about it interfered with everything else. I feel more at ease with silent background, 11/16/23

The part about the inner resource...had insight that mine is a bit depleted. I need to find out how to feel more resilience is there. This is very useful to know going forward to feel more grounded and at ease with others. Will listen again for more insights and grounding.

Worked quite well actually. I usually like a longer session going through each area of the body to relax, but the end result has me feeling calm and relax all the same.

Very helpful for coping with the anxiety I often feel after waking up and before getting out of bed. Love the confident delivery and voice, and the frequent invitation to return to my inner resource. Thank you! 🙏
