Stanford Ambassador of Compassion and Certified iRest Yoga Nidra teacher Jaene has led meditation in the Bay Area of California for over 12 years. She was Chief Meditation Officer and co-founder of Compassionate Veterans, a peer support group in which she closed out the session with a practice of Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra. iRest is excellent for a quick reset, delicious power nap, or restful night's slumber. On a deeper level, iRest can also help heal trauma, restore deep & regenerative sleep, increase present-moment focus, and build & support resilience — something we all need a lot of these days. The iRest somatic protocol was developed by Jaene's teacher Richard Miller, PhD, (clinical psychologist, researcher, and yogic scholar, and founder of iRest Institute -- find his awesome meditations here on Insight Timer). The accessible language of the practice (no woo-woo) was honed in a feasibility study with Walter Reed Army Medical Center aimed at assessing the benefits of iRest for military personnel returning from combat. iRest was shown to have benefit in alleviating the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress, and has also been shown in subsequent scientific trials to be effective in addressing chronic pain, sleep problems, depression, and anxiety. (Yoga Nidra is also now known as NSDR/Non-Sleep Deep Rest, a term coined by neuroscientist Andrew Huberman.) Jaene is also a writer and lover of all fuzzers.
