This meditation is designed to take us through the layers of the Koshas.
The koshas are the five layers,
Or sheaths,
That surround the body.
They start with the outermost layer,
Our physical body.
And come to the innermost layer,
Our bliss body.
So let's take a nice deep breath.
And think about how you want your body to be during this meditation.
Maybe you want to be laying down.
Maybe you want to be sitting.
This meditation is even lovely as a walking meditation.
So think about what appeals to you.
Will allow you to connect with yourself in a deeper way.
Let's take another breath.
Settle into the present moment.
The koshas come from yoga philosophy and are a way for us to better understand who we are.
Both as physical beings,
As energetic beings.
As emotional beings and deeper into our soul and spirit.
Allow yourself to bring complete awareness to your physical body.
Our outer layer,
Our first kosha.
How does your body feel in this moment?
Are you feeling energized?
Tired?
Tense or calm.
Where is your physical body?
How does it feel?
What is supported.
What sensations are present.
Maybe scanning the physical body from the bottoms of the feet.
To the crown of the head.
Our physical body moves through time and space with us every moment of the day.
And we often get so busy that we forget to pay attention to it.
So right now.
Notice the sensations.
Get curious on how your physical body feels.
And next,
Let's come into our breath body,
Our energetic body.
How is your breath in this moment?
Does it feel forced or shallow?
Or is there a natural rhythm to your breath?
Can you pay attention to the cool air as it moves in?
In the warm air as it moves up.
Similar to the physical body,
The breath is something that moves with us every single day.
And yet we often get busy and don't pay attention to it.
So sense now how your breath nourishes every cell inside of you.
Notice the energy from the breath that it carries through your body,
Through your mind.
Let yourself listen to your breath.
Next let's come into our third kosha,
Our emotional body.
What are the thoughts playing in your head right now?
How are you feeling?
Can you see the thoughts?
As they float in.
And as they float out.
And you pay attention to where your mind likes to go.
And there's beauty in detaching who we are.
From our thoughts.
Who we are from our emotions.
We can see our thoughts as clouds just floating by in the sky.
Or you don't have to become them.
We can just be the awareness,
The noticing of them.
So take a few moments and.
.
.
Pay attention to what goes on inside of your own mind.
Next,
Let's come to our fourth kosha,
Our wisdom body.
This is our deep knowing.
Our intuition.
So allow your mind to go a little further inward.
Allow yourself to be quiet enough.
To hear what's not typically being said.
The wisdom body is accessed through a place of trust.
Through a place of clarity.
It's not necessarily the thoughts that we think,
But it's something that we sense.
Something that we know to be true.
So for the next few moments,
Listen to what your intuition is telling you.
Now coming to our final kosha,
The fifth kosha,
The bliss body.
This is our innermost layer.
This is where pure joy and pure being exist.
We're completely in the moment.
We're both whole and free.
This is where we can go beyond the noise from the outside world.
Even beyond the noise from these first four koshas.
So we're with the body.
But the body is not controlling us.
Same with the breath.
Same with the mind.
And even beyond our intuition.
So think about now that state of pure bliss.
Where there is nothing to do.
Nothing to achieve.
You were just here and now.
Whole and free.
The koshas are always with us.
They are not only a tool,
But a guidance system.
To better understand who we are.
So once again,
We'll go through the physical body.
Your outer layer.
Your first kosha.
Noticing how your physical body is feeling in this moment.
And coming to your breath body.
Your energy.
Paying attention to each inhale.
And each exhale.
And third kosha,
Your emotional body,
Your mind.
Noticing the thoughts.
And yet not becoming attached to them.
Realizing we are separate from our thoughts.
And the fourth kosha,
Where your deep longings and intuition live.
Sense of knowing.
Of understanding.
Place where you trust.
And then our fifth kosha,
The bliss body.
Being pure in this moment,
Feeling joy.
Being present.
Recognizing that you are complete exactly as you are right now.
And this meditation,
Let's take a big breath.
Exhaling out of the mouth.
Take a big stretch,
Bringing energy back into your body.
And remembering as the busyness of life can sometimes take over.
Taking a quick moment to go through your five layers,
Your sheets,
Your koshas.
Can be a wonderful way to reconnect with self.
One more big breath in.
And exhale,
Let it go.
