Like a fish in water.
What do you think of when you hear that?
Do you know someone who is just like a fish in water?
And if you don't,
Think of the fish in water,
The dolphins.
And those creatures that just seem to merge and become one.
With the ocean.
Or with the rivets.
This ability to be one with an environment.
Is one of water's strengths as we know it fits the shape of wherever it travels into And it travels.
To the depths of places.
It will go to the lowliest of places.
For it has no judgment.
It will provide hydration,
Cleansing for anyone.
Anywhere.
Such is the nature of water.
Water personalities have often been likened to poets,
Artists,
Creatives.
Well,
They seem to have this ability to go to places internally.
Where others travel.
So that they can embody experiences,
Emotions,
And then portray that through their expressive work.
Likewise,
Deep thinkers.
Have these water traits.
That allow them to sink and sink and sink.
And find the treasures at the bottom.
Or perhaps the remains of a wreckage.
When last have you been like water?
Where perhaps you have allowed yourself to Go deeper than you usually do into your thoughts,
Into your feelings.
Knowing yourself,
Feeling into yourself.
In a more profound way than just the surface level of day-to-day activities.
When last have you?
Felt in flow with life.
And where do you feel most flowing at the moment?
Is it in a certain environment?
Is it with a certain person?
Animal?
Perhaps on your own.
Perhaps in nature.
What helps your body to relax and open into the flow of life.
Calm,
Peace,
Tranquility.
These are all signs of an internal and external water element that is in harmony.
And the water with all of its qualities can show up in life around us,
But it also is connected to certain aspects of our systems.
When one is feeling fearful or anxious.
Struggling with cold hands and cold feet,
A body that is tight and tense.
These are all signs of being out of balance with water.
So how we respond to certain situations,
To life in general,
How we meet another.
This is all indicative of.
.
.
Water's particular qualities,
Characteristics and how we are in tune with each of those or not?
Are we able to acclimatize to the climate and have a body temperature that is balanced?
Are we able to acclimatize to a situation,
Perhaps a situation that is changing?
And how do we adapt to that change?
Are we able to be like the fish in water?
Or do we feel like we get our back up and the body goes tense and we want to take a step back and retreat?
Those are indications that flow,
Harmony,
Calm,
Peace,
Courage.
Self-worth.
In a direction or needing some attention,
Some alignment.
And our courage rests in our core.
And from a very physical perspective,
The psoas muscles,
Which connect the lower part to the upper part,
Help the body to stand up,
To walk upstairs,
To sit down.
This activates the core.
Connects to the solar plexus.
And is part of the water system energy body.
It's linked to the kidney and bladder systems and when we have the strong core.
It helps our filtration to work effectively.
In other words,
The body remains cleansed naturally.
And it gives one the inner string to play.
Say yes.
Say no.
To voice for oneself in a way that is authentic,
Not too loud.
Not too soft.
Now think about your direction in life at the moment.
Are you clear?
Do you know where you are going,
Even if you don't have the details?
Clear.
Pointing from within you.
And there is this trust,
This courage to follow it through.
And so you do.
That is a water system showing up in flow.
The beauty of water with its depth and its wisdom is that when we are lacking something,
Lacking clarity or direction.
We're needing more courage.
More calm,
More peace,
More flow.
More alignments between hot and cold.
In the body.
But also to have a balance of those temperatures in our life's experience.
To activate and support a balance in all of those areas.
We can use the water's communication system.
Of reflection and deep internal communication.
Taking some quiet time.
Just for the sake of being still,
Being at peace with oneself.
Being alone with oneself.
Is highly nourishing and supportive to you.
Create an opening and thereby allow for clarity and awareness to come through.
And likewise,
In those times of quiet,
Of deep connection with the soul,
This opens a doorway into the subconscious and the subconscious part of one's being.
Part of our water system.
It's connected to the kidney and bladder meridians and that part of our energy system that comes in with an essence at the time of birth.
That holds a universal knowing and thus resides in our deep subconscious.
And to bring that awareness from the subconscious into the consciousness.
We can ask.
Ask at times of need.
Deep rest.
Or just before going to sleep at night.
When you're relaxed.
And you're feeling like there's absolutely nothing more that you can do for the day it's time to switch off with your eyes closed and just before you're about to drift off talk to your subconscious.
And ask it to guide you.
A particular situation or perhaps you're needing an answer.
Our sketch.
And tell it.
Very clearly.
To answer you.
So you start by addressing my subconscious being.
I now request for your guidance in this situation I am confronted with.
You describe it simply but clearly.
And then say,
Show me,
Guide me to the answer that is in alignment with my highest good,
For the greater good of all.
And clearly state a type of outcome that you are needing.
And then after that simply say answer answer answer answer And then let it go.
And if you have not received a clear answer which could come through in many ways.
You continue with this process,
Day after day,
Night after night,
Knowing that the guidance,
The answer will come through the right way in the right time.
If we now move to the Taoist texts and look at their interpretation of water,
Which shows up quite clearly through the I Ching,
Which is a system involving eight different elements,
Their frequencies,
And how they speak to each other,
How they show up in the body.
In our life and in our changing life situations.
So in this system,
Water's clearest attribute is danger.
And the reason is because of these depths that water is able to go to.
And this is not necessarily something to be fearful of.
It is simply an awareness for us to hold when water shows up for us.
To be cautious and to move slowly and carefully.
Allowing oneself the time and the space to really feel into those depths of the situations,
The environments,
The experiences that we are in.
For when we rush through,
We often miss so much.
And I'd like to make a distinction here between water and the lake,
Which features in the system.
Lake,
Of course,
Is a body of water.
And its attribute is joy.
Also connection with others,
With nature,
With life.
Whereas water which could be the rivers,
It could be the rain,
It could be the oceans.
This can show up when it's out of balance as a flat,
But also.
A drought,
So we could have either extreme.
And water on its own.
Very much has a life of its own even though it is able to hold itself in any container and travel anywhere but because of that quality its ability to almost seep through anything when dealing.
With a watery situation that has perhaps too much or too little of one or more of these qualities.
Now We need to take one step at a time.
And this is also why in the I Ching,
Water's colour is red.
We stop when we see red.
We understand it means danger.
And it's there as a precaution not to create fear.
However,
Fear is one of the emotional qualities that do show up.
Win.
Water in our life,
In relationships,
In the body,
In our filtering system,
Or in our thoughts.
When any of these are out of balance,
It can show up through anxiety.
Terror panic attacks feeding a well.
But likewise,
When water is flowing and in harmony with all the other elements around,
Now there is calm,
There is peace.
And there is an ability to support the balance of all the other elements because this is one of those very powerful connecting qualities of water.
When you are able to listen to another,
To really hear them,
To hear your own inner voice,
Be guided by it and follow that path that you are on that is yours and nobody else's.
This is water showing up.
In its most powerful and authentic way.
Now in the I Ching,
Its polarity is yang,
And in traditional Chinese medicine,
It is yin.
Its meridians of the body,
The kidney,
The bladder system,
Are part of the deepest yin element.
However,
If we look at it from a yin-yang frequency perspective,
We see that this trigram of water shows A yin line at the bottom.
And top and we've got the yawn frequency in the middle.
This is known as the hidden yam.
This is actually where water's power lies in its ability to hold its energy and allow it to move.
If water doesn't move,
If we don't move,
If situations don't move,
They become stagnant and that's when lots of other issues and problems can arise.
And likewise,
From an I Ching system perspective,
When a yin frequency is at its depth,
That is the time it's about to turn into a yang,
Uprising expression.
And this is the depth that water goes to.
And when it's there,
It's already feeding into and connecting with the movement of the young,
Of the masculine,
Of the creativity,
Productivity.
So one can also think of it like the calm before.
The movement.
So if the symbol of water is showing up for you in your life and it is water of any kind but not a lake.
Feel into these different qualities.
And notice which ones are talking to you.
Perhaps you're being reminded to slow down,
To have some alone time,
To contemplate.
To be really mindful in situations.
To be in flow and to release the tension and exhale to trust your inner voice,
Your inner guidance and to strengthen your core to have the courage to know yourself,
To be yourself and to love yourself.
May the waters continue to guide you and flow with you and cleanse you in a way that is supportive and in alignment.
With you and your life.
