Welcome to this guided meditation for sweet dreams,

The Winter Wonderland.

We will explore a beautiful snowy fantasy landscape,

Including pine trees covered in snow,

Dogs jumping and playing in the snow drifts,

Even flying down a hill with a friend on a toboggan.

We'll end the meditation by the fire with the one you love,

Warm,

Dry,

And safe,

Ready to drift into a peaceful,

Restful sleep.

Take a moment to allow yourself to get comfortable for your rest.

Fitch it as much as you need to.

Feel your body settling into the softness of the support underneath you.

You might also like to take a few deep breaths to help yourself settle here.

Imagine letting go of your day and whatever has been going on for you.

As you settle in to sleep at night,

You're entering a different part of your day,

A part that is dedicated to rest,

Dreams,

And sleep.

This is just as important as the part of your day that is used for thinking,

Engaging,

And being active.

But we have to let that part go now.

Now is not a time for thinking or doing of any kind.

Now is a time for rest and sleep.

As you close your eyes and open the eye of your imagination,

You find yourself standing in a quiet street.

Thick flakes of snow are falling softly on the ground,

Which is already covered in pillowy,

Soft snow.

Everything is white and clean,

And the snow muffles any sound except the snowflakes falling gently on snow.

You feel your mind beginning to quiet as you watch the snowflakes drifting before you.

You feel that any excess thoughts or worries or energy are falling also,

Dropping lightly down out of your body.

You begin to walk,

Your warm,

Thick snow boots crunching softly into the snow banks as you go.

The sidewalks are completely covered.

All that is beneath your feet is the soft snow,

As giving and easeful as white sand on a faraway beach.

As you walk,

You feel your body warming gently in the cool air.

You feel the stresses of the week releasing themselves from your shoulders,

As if pumping the blood were allowing these old things,

Whatever you've been holding onto,

To release out of your body as your legs shift and your arms swing,

Letting go through the puffs of air that you can see out of your mouth as you walk.

It feels delightful to walk in the snow.

It's beautiful and quiet,

And your body is so happy and comfortable in this winter wonderland.

A little farther along,

You come to the edge of a big,

Beautiful park filled with trees.

You follow a small footpath into the snowy woods,

Marveling at the pine trees decorated with snow,

Almost as if they were cakes covered in a perfect amount of pillowy white icing.

You can smell the sweet sharpness of the pine sap,

Extra fragrant under the purity of the snow.

You can feel your breath deepening in this perfect,

Safe,

Beautiful place.

Your jaw releasing,

Your belly soft,

In the perfect quiet of this little pine forest,

You're filled with delight,

Your face softening,

Letting go of any hard edges from the day.

Everything here is soft and clean and pure.

A little farther along the path,

You come across two dogs playing in the snow.

They jump and chase each other in the pure joy of being able to play in the snow.

They are friendly and soft,

Shaking the snow off their heavy coats from time to time as they continue to run,

Roll,

And play in the snow.

They seem to invite you to play as well,

To enjoy the snow the way they do.

And you begin to join the fun,

Chasing the dogs into the snow,

Falling into the soft snow drifts,

Your warm snow clothes keeping you dry and protected as you roll and play on the fluffy snow-covered ground.

After a time,

Tired from running with eternally playful dogs,

You lay on your back in the snow.

You move your arms and legs open and closed,

Creating a snow angel.

As you watch the sky,

You notice the clouds shifting apart,

Revealing a deeply blue sky.

You can feel the bright winter sun lightly warming your face as you gaze up into the blue.

You watch clouds drifting along,

Making different shapes across the wide blue sky.

Everything is right with the world here.

You are safe and comfortable,

And the world you can see is beautiful.

After a time,

You decide to keep moving to see what else you can find in this winter wonderland.

A little past the pine trees,

You find yourself at a rolling hill.

Children and their parents are tobogganing,

Sitting up on bright plastic covers,

Beautiful wooden sleigh-like sliders,

Flying down the hill with glee.

You watch everyone playing in the joy of a snow day,

And someone offers you a slider.

You take a seat,

Hold onto the handles on the front,

And begin to slide down the hill.

You feel the wind against your face and the feeling of lightness,

Freedom,

And playfulness as you fly down the hill,

Almost weightless,

And come to a soft stop in the snow at the bottom of the hill.

More delights in the winter wonderland.

You feel some of the seriousness release from your body,

Replaced with playfulness,

Joy,

And a feeling that you could do anything if you tried.

You feel hopeful and joyful and safe that all is right with your world,

And that you have the ability to fly down hills or do anything else you might want to do in your life.

You climb back up the hill easily,

Ready for another ride.

Your friend smiles at you,

Encouraging you to go again if you'd like to.

You take a seat on your slider and fly down the hill again,

Moving so fast you almost become airborne,

Feeling as if you were on a magic flying carpet.

You climb back up the hill again.

Your friend has a slider too,

And sits next to you at the top of the hill.

This time you fly down the hill together,

Sharing in the simple joy and wonder of playing in the snow.

You feel connected and safe with this person.

You know you're not alone in this world.

The two of you continue to play and fly down the hill several more times,

Indulging in this simple joy together.

At the bottom of the hill,

You feel it's time to move on.

You return the slider back to your friend,

And the two of you hug in a warm,

Joyful embrace.

Continue on your walk through the park,

Past the pine trees,

And find your way home.

You enter into the home,

And a fire is already roaring in the fireplace.

Someone you love is here.

There's your favorite beverage and your favorite mug,

And you wrap your hands around it,

Warming them as you do.

You sit by the fire on a soft,

Cozy couch next to your loved one,

Feeling this special,

Sharp warmth that only comes after a day of playing outside in the snow.

You feel complete,

Safe,

Warm and loved.

You are in your winter wonderland.
