Mindfulness is the state of awareness that arises when we pay non-judgmental attention to the present moment.
In order to practice mindfulness meditation,
We take a seat,
Close our eyes,
And draw our attention to the breath entering and leaving the nose.
If our mind wanders,
If it gets distracted by emotions,
Memories,
Thoughts,
Or physical sensations,
We gently acknowledge the distraction and bring our focus back to the breath entering and leaving the nose.
Ideally,
We make meditation a daily practice.
That is,
At the same time,
In the morning,
Or at night,
We sit down for a session of formal practice.
But beyond that,
We also want to have the intention to take the benefits off the meditation mat.
That means that we're trying to have some mindful moments throughout the day.
It's important to remember that the benefits of meditation will take time.
There is a lag between actions and results.
So start meditating now and just trust in the process,
Because over time,
You will develop a clearer,
Calmer,
And more focused mind.
Happy meditating.
