Vanessa Potter is a green health entrepreneur, well-being author, coach and advocate whose journey into meditation began ten years ago when she experienced sudden blindness. Through mind-body practices, she found a pathway to recovery, igniting a deep curiosity about the mind’s potential to re-frame trauma. Vanessa collaborated with neuroscientists and meditation experts, conducting a three-year research project that explored how mind-body practices impact brain function, sharing her insights through her writing and teaching. Vanessa runs retreats, workshops and weekly sessions on resilience building, compassion and stress management for women in London, UK.

I’ve always felt a special connection with trees throughout my life. They’re stoic and reliable and comforting and I’ve become attached to so many trees that I’ve encountered. I’ve actually felt deep grief when some have been cut down or badly pruned or damaged by the elements. I love the way you pull out the basics of whatever modality you talk about. I started to have some interest in breath work last year but as usual the teachers seem to assume everyone is starting at either 0 or 10. You've got me interested again with a directional shift.

Now I understand why the struggle to get on with meditation even after spending so much time on IT for the past 2 years. I want to learn more but the internet is awash with people selling their wares. Maybe there is a good book to jump to from this talk. Excellent base information for discerning learners. Like that 'mental training'.

I love that you bring your guests back to basics. I find myself put off of yoga because the instructors make it look so complicated for older beginners. I have been searching for a yoga guide to help me start the process but the older age group is just not represented properly. Either ignored or treated as if we are in nursing homes unable to get up of the chair. You are trying to fill in this blanks and maybe without realising you do. I will maybe look for a book to get started with this practice and avoid the online crew for now. I am a fan of yours after two talks I've listened to. Down to earth, curious and practical.
