A short breathing exercise using visualisation as a circuit breaker or stress-buster during the day. Imagine breathing in pure, white light and exhaling black negative smoke. This easy practice allows us to reset our nervous system quickly by mentally exhaling any unhelpful negativity or worries, replacing them with a cleansing white light. Continue the breathing even after the practice ends to stay focused and counter negative thoughts. Photo credit Fuu J/Unsplash. Music by Alternating Sounds.

Transcript

Find a comfortable position and gently close your eyes.

Allow your hands to rest on your lap.

Take a slow inhalation through your nose and exhale through your mouth.

Repeat this three times.

As you inhale through your nose,

Now imagine breathing in a pure white light that fills up your whole chest with a sense of calmness and clarity.

As you exhale through your mouth,

Expel all of your negative emotions,

All the stresses and worries of the day as a thick black smoke.

Breathe in fresh white cleansing light,

Exhale thick black smoke.

Continue to breathe in and out in this way.

As you breathe in,

Imagine the light filling up all of your body,

Filling every cavity.

And as you breathe out the black smoke,

Watch it evaporate into the atmosphere.

Pure white light breathing into the body,

Black smoke breathing out of the body.

And in your own time,

Start to bring your attention back to the surface you are sitting or lying on.

And slowly open your eyes.
