How To Understand Anxious And Avoidant Attachment And What Happens Between Them

With Stacey Bennington | Psychotherapist & Coach

Anxious and avoidant attachment are two of the most common and most painful patterns in adult relationships. And they are almost magnetically drawn to each other, which means a lot of people find themselves in the same push and pull dynamic again and again without understanding why. In this course you will learn what anxious and avoidant attachment actually look and feel like from the inside, why these two styles are so powerfully attracted to each other, what happens when they collide in a relationship, and what it takes for either style to begin moving toward something more secure. Whether you identify as anxious, avoidant, or somewhere in between, this course will help you see your patterns more clearly and understand what is driving them.

Having walked her own path of healing a fearful avoidant attachment style, she brings both clinical depth and lived experience to her work. Her approach blends attachment theory, nervous system regulation, hypnotherapy, and subconscious reprogramming, meeting the mind in the deeply receptive states where lasting change takes root. Her meditations, sleep tracks, and mini courses are designed to help you feel seen in your patterns, understand where they began, and gently rewire those patterns at the root, so you can move through your relationships and your life with more security, calm, and confidence.

This lesson offers a more accurate and compassionate picture of what dismissive avoidant attachment actually feels like from the inside, including the genuine discomfort of closeness and the real but complicated desire for connection that underlies the withdrawal.

Lesson 3

Why Anxious And Avoidant Are So Drawn To Each Other

The anxious and avoidant pairing is one of the most common and most painful dynamics in relationships. This lesson explains the psychological and neurological reasons these two styles are so powerfully drawn to each other, and what each person is unconsciously hoping to find in the other.

Lesson 4

What Happens When They Collide

When anxious and avoidant attachment styles meet in a relationship, predictable and painful cycles tend to emerge. This lesson maps those cycles in detail so that both partners can begin to see the pattern they are in rather than just the pain they are feeling.

Lesson 5

Moving Toward Secure: What It Actually Takes

Secure attachment is not a fixed trait you either have or do not have. It is a pattern that can be learned and practiced. This final lesson offers a realistic and compassionate framework for what moving toward security actually looks like for both anxious and avoidant styles.
