Self Sabotage And Attachment

With Stacey Bennington | Psychotherapist & Coach

Self sabotage is one of the most confusing and painful experiences a person can have. You want the relationship, the opportunity, the life — and then something in you pulls the rug out from under it right when it starts to feel real. Most people chalk it up to fear of success or self-destructive tendencies. But the real story goes much deeper than that. In this course, you will learn what self-sabotage actually is at the nervous system level, how your attachment wounds drive it, why it shows up most powerfully when things are going well, and what it actually takes to become someone who can receive good things and let them stay.

She is also a Board-Certified Medical Support Hypnotherapist, a Certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, and a Certified Integrative Attachment Theory Coach, with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. She is certified in yoga nidra, a guided practice of deep rest and nervous system restoration. Stacey specializes in helping individuals understand how early attachment patterns and core wounds shape their relationships, communication, and emotional responses, and how to build more secure, connected ways of relating. Having walked her own path of healing a fearful avoidant attachment style, she brings both clinical depth and lived experience to her work. Her approach blends attachment theory, nervous system regulation, hypnotherapy, and subconscious reprogramming, meeting the mind in the deeply receptive states where lasting change takes root. Her meditations, sleep tracks, and mini courses are designed to help you feel seen in your patterns, understand where they began, and gently rewire those patterns at the root, so you can move through your relationships and your life with more security, calm, and confidence.

Lesson 3

Why It Gets Worse When Things Get Good

One of the most confusing aspects of self-sabotage is that it often intensifies exactly when life is going well. This lesson explains the neuroscience and attachment logic behind why good things can feel more threatening than bad things, and why the nervous system sometimes prefers familiar pain to unfamiliar joy.

Lesson 4

Catching It In Real Time

Understanding self-sabotage intellectually is very different from catching it in the moment when it is happening. This lesson gives you practical tools for recognizing self-sabotage as it activates so you can create just enough space to choose differently.

Lesson 5

Becoming Someone Who Can Receive Good Things

The goal of healing self-sabotage is not just to stop blowing things up. It is to become someone whose nervous system genuinely knows how to receive and hold good things. This final lesson offers a practical path toward that identity-level shift.
