Por Douglas Robson

Comece o Dia 1
O que você irá aprender
We are back with another massive course on my favourite philosphy, Stoicism. You loved the last course so I had to bring you another one. This time we look at four new characters that shaped history with their actions and virtues. Once again I bring ancient ideas and modern dilemmas togheter to show you how this old philolosphy can you today. I'll also be showing how contempary neuroscience and psychology add weight to what these great men and women intituaitvely knew. If you are looking to learn more about stoicim and how it can help your life then you got to try this course.

Lição 1
The Second Beginning
Chysippus, the second father of stoicism. We learn about his life and his unusual death. He was such a pivitol character in stoicism that many believed there would be no stoicism without Chrysippus. Learn about his teachings, some neuroscience and how you could use one of his famous techniques to face your fears and live more!
Lição 2
The Chrysippus Method!
Ok this is where ancient philosophy meets neuroscience! I’ll take you through a few stoic concepts that Chrysippus helped develop and show you how modern day neuroscience validates their efficacy. I’ll then give you an opportunity to take this theory and put it into practice with a very special stoic meditation I have put together.
Lição 3
The Stoics Favourite Stoic!
My favourite episode by far! Big history lesson here and a story of how one mans dedication to virtue can be dangerous, but also powerful. Learn about Cato the man and his unusual ways and then Cato the myth and how he inspired others from beyond the grave.
Lição 4
Behind Every Good Man
We turn our attention to the Iron Lady of Rome. This is Portia Cato, a women with the strength to overcome and impress her husband and history. A women who showed the world that the ability to express virtue by all means necessary was not confined to men. Portia defied the conventional wisdom regarding women and inspired men and women alike with her actions. Learn more in here!
Lição 5
The Importance Of Practice
I finish this course with a big name in Stoicism, none other than Giuas Mussunio Rufus. What a name! He was a man who tempered hardship better than most, including other stoics. He fearlessly spoke against emperors and about controversial topics. He never let fear stand in the way of doing what was right, he understood what was really important, the good life. Learn in this episode which is better practice or theory, and how wanting pleasure and fearing pain can jeapoodsie your virtues.

Excellent work, very well put together very thought-provoking. I've been working on mindfulness for the period of 2025, for the first time being reflective in my life. I've always been someone that just goes ahead full steam as a very high agency person. I found the stoic teachings in both series 1 and 2 very interesting and very worthwhile...

I really loved it! I did a year of philosophy and always regret now staying. My ego jumped in and I decided to change my career to become what I thought would be a successful life. I have no regrets but I strongly know that my heart has always been seeking virtues I was not practicing within myself, virtues I intuitively know I would have...

This was my first introduction to Stoicism and I cannot thank you enough, Douglas. For the reader - Douglas teaches in way that calls, maybe even propels, the student to action, to, as it says in title, “deeds not words”. You can listen to this and get plenty of historical learning, but that would be a sad misuse of your time and the incredible...
