COURSE
With Laurie James SEP/PCC
The way you attach to the people you love didn't start with your last relationship. It started at birth — in the moments when you were learning, without words, whether closeness felt safe and whether you were enough. This four-part somatic healing course that helps you understand your attachment patterns at the nervous system level and begin to gently shift them. Using Attachment Theory and Somatic Experiencing, each session guides you through body-based practices you can use immediately — in your relationships, in moments of anxiety or withdrawal, and in the quiet spaces where old patterns tend to live. Whether you anxiously seek reassurance, pull away when things get close, swing between both, or simply want to deepen your capacity to receive love — this course was made for you. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN How your early relational experiences shaped your nervous system's response to intimacy and closeness How to identify the attachment patterns most active in your relationships today Body-based tools to regulate anxiety, soften avoidance, and calm overwhelm How to gently expand your capacity to give and receive love — without shutdown or overwhelm The four video sessions are paired with guided somatic practices you can return to anytime. No prior experience with somatic work or attachment theory required — just a quiet space, maybe a journal, and a willingness to go slowly. This course is experiential. You won't just understand your patterns — you'll begin to feel them shift. Session 1 — Introduction - Contain and Soothe Your Anxious Attachment Understand how anxious attachment lives in the body and practice a grounding exercise to feel safer in yourself and your relationships. Session 2 — Soften and Stay: Reconnect with Emotion and Safety Explore the roots of avoidant attachment and use two somatic practices — pendulation and the Kind Eyes exercise — to gently build tolerance for closeness. Session 3 — Soften the Push-Pull: Finding Safety in Connection For those who feel both a longing for closeness and a fear of it. Somatic self-touch, orienting, and visualization practices to calm overwhelm and build inner safety. Session 4 — Expand Your Capacity to Receive Love Cultivate secure attachment through gentle somatic practices that help you receive love more fully — just 5% at a time — without shutdown or overwhelm.
