Hey there,
This is Lori James,
Author of Sandwiched and Transformative Coach.
If you're anything like me,
You've had a really busy day so far,
And you just need to unhook your thoughts.
So I'm going to walk you through a meditation that will help us let go of the thoughts and detach from them,
Because we are not our thoughts.
We are feeling beings that think.
So take a moment and just get settled in.
Get comfortable with whatever,
Wherever you are.
Maybe you're sitting on the couch,
You could be even in your car,
Or resting on your bed.
Do whatever feels most comfortable for you.
And just take a moment or two with either your eyes focused on a dristy or completely closed.
And just take a couple of breaths here.
Bring back home to yourself after everyone has been pulling on you,
Including work,
Children,
Partners,
Everybody and anybody,
Friends,
Family.
Just settle in and close the eyes or keep the dristy.
Just notice what you feel in your body.
Notice your mind,
Notice any anxiousness.
Just notice what you notice.
Maybe there's some buzzing.
I know I often feel tingling in my extremities.
Maybe you're even feeling your lunch digest.
Just continue to breathe in and out.
And just notice your thoughts.
As they come in and out,
It could be your perpetual to-do list.
It could still be the kids who need you or the work email,
The PTA email that you may have forgotten to send that just popped in your head.
Just notice the thoughts drift by like a cloud in the sky,
Each thought different from the next.
See if you can just let them go without attaching to them.
Come back to your breath as you breathe in and out.
In and out.
Maybe your thoughts are coming faster,
Maybe slower.
There's no right or wrong,
Good or bad.
Just use what it is.
Just notice your thoughts as they come in and out.
And again,
Just see if you can see them floating by like a cloud till they disappear.
See if you can just come back to the breath.
Maybe sitting up just a little taller.
In and out.
There's no right or wrong.
Just notice.
Maybe your thoughts have dissipated so there's not quite as many.
Maybe there's more.
Either way,
Just keep letting them go.
We are not our thoughts.
Our thoughts are just part of us.
We do not need to attach to our thoughts.
Our thoughts can cause us to be anxious,
To realize that we forgot to do something,
To feel tension.
In this moment,
Let's see if we can let go of those anxious thoughts,
That tension in our bodies.
See if we can continue to watch them pass by like clouds.
Come back to the breath.
Feeling our bellies expand and contract.
No right,
No wrong.
No good or bad.
Just as.
And you can pause this recording and stay here for as long as you'd like.
Exhaling with your breath,
Continuing to let your thoughts pass by you like clouds passing by in the sky.
Or you can come back to your body.
Maybe brush your fingers against whatever they're resting on.
Maybe roll your shoulders back to feel any tension that was released since the beginning of our meditation.
Just slowly open your eyes and come back into the room.
Just notice if there's any difference between now and when you started this meditation.
And if there is,
Then you have just achieved what you came here to do.
Thank you again for being here with me,
And I hope to see you next time.
