Welcome,
I'm Jocelyn.
This is a short meditation for those days when you feel overwhelmed,
Like you need everything but you just can't hold everything,
And it's inspired by a shaman journey that I took.
And at the end of that shaman journey,
I had this vision of standing on a beach in front of an ocean,
An ocean of light,
And allowing the waves to wash over me.
So let me bring you on this journey,
Just allowing your eyes to close,
Closing the curtains of your eyelids,
And bringing your awareness into your body,
Allowing your awareness to course through your body,
Just getting a snapshot of where you are right now.
With your eyes closed,
You might allow your awareness to wander along your body and how it is positioned,
Might you imagine the density of your bones,
Tissues,
And the space between different parts of your body,
Just getting a nice sense of how your body is positioned here in space right now,
Allowing your awareness to move to your hips and feeling the density in your hips,
Allowing your awareness to circle around the hips,
Inviting them to rest back and down,
Inviting your awareness towards your shoulders,
Circling around your shoulders,
Inviting your shoulders to rest back and down,
And the jaw,
Your awareness beginning to circle around the jaw,
Inviting the jaw to rest,
Allowing your eyes to rest back and down,
Your ears,
And once again getting a sense of the shape of your body in your space right now,
Allowing your awareness to travel across all the spaces between body parts,
Maybe between your legs or toes,
The spaces between the ground,
And your body where the curves are,
And then bring your awareness to your breath just for a minute,
Allowing yourself to witness your breath,
Noticing how effortlessly each inhale is born,
And then transitions to an exhale,
This effortless cycle,
This effortless tide of breath that rolls in and rolls out,
Allowing your awareness to follow that tide of breath in time and pace,
And might you imagine yourself standing on a shoreline,
The ocean in front of you,
Softly gazing over the horizon,
And whatever brought you here to this shoreline,
What it is you feel you need,
Allow all the words,
All the wishes,
All of the wants to begin to build up in you as you softly gaze at the horizon and the gently moving water in front of you,
All of these things,
These wishes,
These wants,
These needs,
All within you,
And a soft gaze out at the horizon,
And while you are looking,
Softly gazing out at the horizon,
Might you notice that the oceans of water is actually an ocean of light,
That the gentle cresting waves coming into the shoreline are not water,
But light,
As if you stumbled upon a place of giving from the universe,
A place where you could ask for anything,
An ocean of light in front of you,
And so you begin to allow all of those wants and wishes that have built up inside to come out your mouth,
To ask,
To release,
To wish all of the things,
Every last one,
And as you softly gaze out at this ocean of light,
Have said every last thing,
Every last wish,
Every last need,
You notice out on the ocean's horizon,
A wave beginning,
Moving toward you,
Swelling toward the shoreline where your feet are still in the sand,
And you notice this wave getting bigger and bigger,
Swelling larger and larger,
And yet you're not afraid because you know this is an ocean of light,
And as the wave comes closer,
It's the size of a tsunami,
Four,
Five,
Six times taller than you are,
Coming in this ocean of light,
Gathering this wave for you,
As if it was gathering in all directions and pushing it toward you,
And in preparation for this wave to wash over you,
You plant your feet into the sand,
You allow your arms to hang by your sides,
Your palms open,
Ready to receive,
And your eyes forward,
Watching this tsunami come closer,
And all of a sudden that wave crashes over you,
A wave of light,
And before you know it,
You're still standing,
And that huge wave is at your feet,
Going back into the ocean of light,
And the ocean is calm once again,
And you haven't moved,
You feel like you've been drenched,
Dripping light from each strand of hair,
You might even feel a bit of disappointment,
Because that wave was so big,
How could you possibly capture all of what you wanted,
How could you possibly be able to grab it all,
And then you look down at your feet,
And you see the last bits of light from the wave,
Making their way back to the ocean of light,
And you notice the light dripping off your hair,
And your clothes,
Down into the sand,
And then making its way as well back to that ocean of light,
And all of a sudden you feel a bit heavier in your belly,
You feel a bit heavier in your pelvis,
Like there was a bowl there that caught exactly what it needed,
And you come to the realization that there's only so much you can accept at once,
One time,
And that everything that washed off,
Or everything that you weren't able to get at that time,
Went back into the ocean for the next time,
And in fact you got exactly what you needed,
And how much you needed,
Because you are full from the inside right now,
And you realize you can come back here at any time,
You can come back to this shoreline,
To this ocean of light,
And ask for what you need,
What you wish,
What you want at any time,
And anything you don't catch in this moment will simply go back to the ocean of light until you're ready to catch it,
You see there is no missing out here,
And so you simply say goodbye to the shoreline for now,
In whatever way feels right,
You take a nice deep breath into your belly,
Into your pelvic bowl,
And feeling the gentle swish of light newly present there,
And exhaling,
Opening your mouth and exhaling it out,
And one more time inhaling through your nose,
Exhaling,
Opening your mouth and sighing out,
And you might want to wiggle your shoulders or your head moving it side to side,
You may want to undulate your spine or rock your hips,
Maybe take a full body stretch,
Allow that light to integrate in all of your body,
And when you're ready you can open your eyes,
And bring your hands to your heart if that feels correct for you,
And a little gratitude to this body that can hold so much light,
