Good morning,
Welcome,
Welcome.
Take your time to settle yourself into your position,
Allowing the time and the space to get yourself comfortable.
Check that you're warm,
Warm enough,
Comfortable enough,
And that you feel your connection to ground.
And as you start to settle,
You might need to reel around a little bit,
Sometimes it takes a moment,
But in its own time the body begins to get heavier,
Arms and legs heavy towards the ground,
Pelvis rooting,
Perhaps noticing your spine,
The upward lift of your Primal streak,
Your midline,
Column,
The invitation for your awareness to be focusing on the internal world,
The sensations,
The aliveness of body,
Noticing how breath moves through you.
And for our practice today,
Our intention is equanimity,
Not as something we have to achieve,
Or strive for,
Or go and get,
But as something that's already here,
Our capacity to hold polarities,
The ways in which we move from one state to another,
We don't have to hold a permanent state of something,
We're changing,
We're moving,
We're emerging.
And equanimity allows us to be with changes,
To be with difference,
And remain anchored in presence.
So I'm going to invite you to tune in to the sounds around you,
And what is it that you notice when you let your awareness move to the outer world,
How far can your listening go,
Can you sense the furniture around you,
The walls of your room or your environment in which you're sitting,
Can you sense other people in the space,
Maybe on the street outside or neighbours,
Or within your home,
Your pets,
Can you expand your awareness to feel into the area in which you're practicing,
Local streets or woodlands or ocean,
Can you feel the ground,
How deep into the ground can your awareness go,
And upwards into the sky,
Through the atmosphere,
How big can your expansion be of your awareness,
And then drawing awareness back in,
Perhaps letting the breath bring you home to your body,
Hearing the sound of your own breathing,
And coming back to the most obvious of your sensations in the body,
Perhaps a sense of the heaviness,
Coming inward,
Can you notice the breath as it moves in and out through the nose,
Can you notice the sense of your heartbeat in your chest,
And as you move your awareness towards your inner world,
Notice where your awareness goes to,
Perhaps you stay with the wearing of the mind,
Noticing the way that thoughts come and go,
Maybe you notice some discomfort,
Pain in the body,
The rise and fall of your chest with your breath,
Can you drop your awareness down past your heart to your belly,
Maybe even into your pelvis,
And then noticing how it would be to expand outwards again,
To let your awareness move to the outer realms,
And to stay with the inner world,
How does it feel to try and do that?
Is it confusing,
Or effortful,
Or is it doable?
Noticing outer world,
Noticing inner world,
Where does the ease lie for you in this moment?
Is it easier to be with the outer world,
Or do you naturally move to your inner world?
How do you find it easy to be with the two?
And then an invitation to let go of that practice and just be with what's here,
Maybe take a sigh,
Equanimity is not about trying to get it all right,
Trying to be perfect,
Equanimity is more the quality of curiosity,
How,
What's,
What is it like?
How is it feeling?
What am I with here?
Knowing that we all get pulled this way and that,
Out of shape,
And that we can,
We can get pulled and we can come back,
We can get it wrong and we can,
We can repair,
We can connect outwardly,
Sense,
Feel,
Hear,
Taste,
And we can connect inwardly,
Sense,
Feel,
Hear,
Taste.
Finding ground and letting the breath deepen,
We offer the fruits of our practice to ourselves,
To one another,
And to all beings.
