Welcome to this short meditation on releasing perfectionism to increase your confidence.
I'm Sarah Zinacroce,
At Recovering Perfectionist,
And I'll be your guide today.
Find a comfortable position,
Maybe prefer sitting or lying down.
And now gently close your eyes if that feels safe.
And let's start by bringing your awareness to the senses.
Notice the sounds around you,
The sensations on your skin,
The clothes or the air on your skin,
And the support of the surface beneath you.
Feel the force of gravity grounding you,
Connecting you to this world.
It can be difficult to fully accept ourselves.
So it's best to start where it's easier.
So let's start with someone else.
Bring to mind someone you deeply care about,
And find easy to love or easy to wish well.
This person likely has their own struggles and feelings of inadequacy,
Just like you do.
Notice any thoughts,
Emotions,
Or sensations that arise when you think about them having a hard time.
Maybe you feel uneasy or sad when you think about this dear person having a rough time.
Or maybe you feel the urge to reassure or encourage them.
Regardless of what arises,
Try to observe your arising thoughts and feelings with curiosity.
Radical kindness is the antidote to self criticism.
So let's try offering this person some words of self acceptance.
You may choose to place your hand over your heart as a symbol of support and care.
And now you can repeat silently after me.
May you allow yourself to be imperfect.
May you accept yourself just as you are.
May you trust that you are enough right now.
May you remember that there are people who care about you.
Take a deep breath in and out.
And now let's focus our attention on ourselves and offer the same kindness to ourselves.
May I allow myself to be imperfect.
May I accept myself just as I am.
May I trust that I am enough right now.
May I take myself a little less seriously and put less pressure on myself.
I am enough.
And no one expects me to be perfect.
Take a moment to notice how these words feel for you.
Inhale through your whole body.
And exhale.
Keep breathing.
And now just enjoy this moment of deep rest and relaxation in your own personal inner sanctuary.
A place where you go to be connected with your higher self.
Secure,
Grounded.
You feel a deep sense of peace and inner love and confidence.
And now bring your awareness back to your breath.
And just allow your body to breathe for you.
With no effort whatsoever.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes and return to the present moment.
Carrying with you this deep inner knowing that you are enough,
Just as you are.
And you don't need to be perfect.
Thank you for spending this time with me today.
If you'd like to continue working on your confidence in a gentle way,
I also have a course on this.
It's called Seven Day Gentle Confidence Boost for Introverted Changemakers.
And you'll find it under my courses tab.
I'd love to connect with you there.
Take good care now.
