Today we're going to be tapping on anxiety.
Something that many of us suffer with on a daily basis,
Weekly basis,
Sometimes,
Some not.
It comes and goes.
But yeah,
We'll spend about 20 minutes just trying to bring some calm.
To the body and just feel a little bit better about the week ahead of us.
We can take a moment.
Just to settle and come into the space where you are right now.
You might be at home,
You could be on the move.
I know I used to always be listening to tapping meditations whilst I was travelling to work.
Walking around the city.
Just take a moment to settle into your space.
When you're ready,
You can close your eyes gently.
Place both hands over your heart space.
If your hands are free,
Don't worry if not.
And take a steady breath in through the nose.
And sigh it out.
Take one more in,
Full and slow.
And let yourself become aware of any tension in your body.
Maybe it's feeling a bit tight today,
Maybe there's a tightness in your chest.
Could be that your stomach is where it shows up.
Maybe it feels a bit tight,
Like a knot or like a ball.
Or the tension could be up in your throat,
Your jaw,
Shoulders.
Now with EFT and tapping,
We're not here to push it away and force it to go away,
We're here to acknowledge it.
Almost welcome it really,
Bring it to the surface,
Notice it.
Without judgment and just allow it to be there and with tapping as well that process will just allow it to come up.
And out and pass away.
If you're new to EFT it is known as Emotional Freedom Techniques.
I'm a clinical EFT practitioner.
And if you haven't experienced tapping before then hopefully you're in for something quite exciting and powerful.
So we tap on specific acupoints in the body while bringing attention to an emotional experience.
So this technique signals to the body that it's safe to soften,
Calm the nervous system and let go.
So before we start,
Let's just tune in for how we're feeling right now.
How anxious or overwhelmed do you feel right now?
On a scale of 0 to 10,
With 10 being the most intense.
Where are you now?
If you feel like sharing,
Please share in the chat,
It's lovely to hear from you.
Um,
And just make a mental note of how you're feeling.
Hey Xena in Arizona!
Lovely for you to join.
7-7 Fab.
Okay,
Anne.
Well,
Hopefully we can move you on from there.
So just notice what number you're at,
There's no judgement.
And we will just start with some gentle tapping.
You don't need to have tapped before.
I will guide you all the way.
You can just follow me.
And we're just going to start by getting into our bodies.
So we'll start by tapping on the side of the hand.
I'm just going to take a breath in.
And release.
Take another deep breath.
Hold briefly.
And exhale slowly.
One more breath.
And let it go.
So to start,
We're just going to do a round of tapping.
We're not going to say any words.
Just want to connect with the body.
So we'll start on the eyebrow point.
Right at the end of your eyebrows,
You can tap with one hand,
The other hand,
Both hands.
The energy lines run straight up and down the body,
Both sides.
And just breathe in.
And release.
Side of eye.
Right on the bony eye sockets,
Just breathe in.
And release.
Under the eye.
Straight underneath your pupils,
Just breathing in.
And release.
Under the nose,
In between the nose and the mouth.
Let's take a breath.
And the chin sort of in that little groove in there.
And take a breath.
Collarbone so this actually isn't on the bone if you're new to this follow your bone along to the knobbly points on the end come down an inch and out an inch and it's the it's the soft tender part just underneath your collarbone and take a breath.
Under the arm.
This is about four fingers under the armpit.
For a woman,
It's usually where the top of your bra strap is.
And top of the head.
So it's back to the side of the hand and tapping.
I'm going to say some words and you guys can repeat after me.
If these words don't resonate with you,
Please use your own.
The more specific you are,
The better it will be.
But if you're new for now,
Feel free to use my words.
Even though I'm feeling anxious as this new week begins.
I accept myself just as I am.
Even though there's a lot ahead of me and I feel unsure.
I'm open to showing myself some compassion.
Even though my body is holding this tension.
I'm choosing to meet it with gentleness.
Okay,
Tapping through the points starting with the eyebrow.
This anxious energy at the start of the week.
Side of eye.
It feels heavy and I can't quite shake it.
Under the eye.
My mind is so busy.
Under the nose.
I feel so much pressure to get it all right.
And the chin.
There's so much to do and not enough time.
And the collarbone.
I'm carrying so much tension right now.
Under the arm.
It's hard to feel calm.
Top of the head.
This tightness in my chest.
Or shoulders,
Or wherever you feel it,
Just say it out loud.
To say how you're feeling.
Okay,
Let's keep going.
Eyebrow.
It's okay that I feel this way.
Side of eye.
I'm just noticing how I feel without fixing it.
Under the eye.
What if this is just energy in my system?
Under the nose.
Maybe my body is trying to protect me.
And the chin.
What if I don't have to stay stuck in this feeling?
And the collarbone.
What if I can bring some compassion to myself?
Under the arm.
My feelings are valid.
Off of my head,
But maybe this shall pass.
Let's keep going,
Eyebrow.
There's a part of me that wants to escape this feeling.
Side of I.
I wish I didn't feel this way.
Under the eye.
I hate feeling anxious.
Under the nose.
I thought I'd moved past this.
On the chin but it's here,
This worry,
This tightness.
The collarbone and I'm still here too with it.
Under the arm but I'm breathing through it even if it feels uncomfortable.
Top of the head.
I am choosing to meet myself where I am.
Keep going eyebrow.
What if it's safe to slow down right now?
Bye bye.
I'm allowed to feel this.
Under the eye.
My body is holding on to old patterns and that's okay.
Under the nose.
I'm not doing anything wrong by feeling anxious.
On the chin.
I'm learning how to care for myself in new ways.
On the collarbone and I can hold space for this without being overwhelmed.
Under the arm.
What if this feeling is not forever?
Top of the head.
And I am not broken,
I'm just human.
Okay,
Take a pause here.
Let's take a breath.
Check in with yourself.
Gosh have a yawn if you like,
When energy starts moving it can make you want to stretch,
Make you want to yawn.
Yawning is very very common in tapping and clients do it a lot which is a wonderful sight.
Drink some water if you have some,
But just check in with yourself again.
What do you notice in your body?
How are you feeling?
Have we brought it more to the surface?
Has it lowered a little?
What number would you give it now on 0 to 10?
And there's no right or wrong here.
Sometimes when we shine a spotlight on it,
It can go up.
So don't feel like you have to have a number that goes down because right now it could be anywhere on that scale.
Just make a note.
Yeah,
Thanks for sharing.
Good to see.
Okay.
We'll keep going with the next round.
Okay.
Side of the hand,
Just tapping here.
Ah.
Lower back tightness,
Okay,
And yawning a lot,
Great.
So even though I still feel some tension.
I am open to allowing more calm.
Even though part of me is still holding on.
I honour that part with kindness.
Even though I'm not fully relaxed yet.
I'm safe to soften a little more.
Eyebrow point.
I give myself permission to slow down.
Side of the eye.
I can approach this week one breath at a time.
Under the eye.
My nervous system is finding its rhythm.
Under the nose.
I don't have to be perfect,
I just have to be present.
From the chin.
I can find steadiness even in uncertainty.
And the collarbone.
I'm choosing to let go of what I can't control.
Under the arm and breathing out this anxious energy.
Top of the head,
I am making space for calm.
Keep going.
Eyebrow.
I am letting go of this pressure in my body.
And just notice where it is.
So Caroline,
Like you feel it in your lower back,
You can say,
I'm letting go of this pressure in my lower back.
Call it out.
Side of eye.
I am not my anxiety.
Under the eye.
I am grounded here and now.
Under the nose,
I allow peace to settle in my body.
On the chin,
My breath anchors me.
From the collar bone.
Each moment is a new beginning.
Under the arm.
I am capable of handling this week.
Top of the head.
I choose to trust myself.
Okay,
Let's come back to tapping on the side of the hand.
Just check in how you're feeling,
Take a nice big deep breath.
Allow the energy to keep moving.
So tapping on the side of the hand,
Repeat the words after me.
I am grateful for taking this time for myself.
I choose to move through this week with ease and confidence.
I trust myself to handle what comes.
Do one last round through the points,
Eyebrow.
I've taken time to pause and reconnect.
Side of the eye,
I honour myself for showing up today.
Under the nose.
I've released some of this anxiety.
On the chin and I've made space for calm.
On the collarbone.
I feel more grounded in my body.
And to the arm.
I'm allowed to treat myself with compassion.
Top of the head.
I carry this feeling of calm with me into the week ahead.
Pause,
Place your hands on your heart space,
Take a breath.
And release.
You can stretch,
Yawn.
Move freely,
Whatever your body.
More I may like to do.
Ah,
There's a wonderful energy stretch you can do Donna Eden who I love.
And she brings the arms together.
Down into the centre.
And you take one arm up.
And one arm down.
And just stretch,
Stretch out those energy lines in the body.
It's a wonderful way to end.
