So I want to tell you something kind of funny.

In the past,

I realized that my inner narrative voice was always directing me and telling me what to do.

Even to the point of like brushing my teeth,

My mind would say,

Okay,

You know,

Get your toothbrush,

Okay,

Put toothpaste on it and put it in your mouth and,

You know,

Bottom the right,

Bottom left,

You know,

Like just telling me all the time,

Like giving me directions.

And then I learned that that's not necessary.

And I was like,

No,

You know,

How could that be?

But it's,

It's actually true.

You don't need to do that.

You're,

If you don't spend all the time,

All this,

Like an extra energy,

Your mind narrating and directing you to do things,

All the what all the things you're still going to do them.

So I decided to do a little experiment with this.

And I decided not,

I decided to definitely not do that to step back.

I decided to step back and observe and be as quiet as I could in my head and see what happens.

And you know what,

I still brushed my teeth,

I still got dressed,

I still ate I did things without needing to be told all the time.

I think my inner narrator was micromanaging me.

If yours is doing that,

Put it on break,

Tell it to go take a break,

Like you don't have to do that.

Instead,

Really try today,

A practice of stepping back mentally,

And just observing what's going on.

You can observe yourself doing,

Deciding,

Making choices,

Getting around,

Getting your work done.

And it becomes like an effortless thing,

In comparison to talking about it in your head and doing it at the same time.

All of that is actually very unnecessary.

So play with this today.

If,

And I don't know how much you talk in your head,

But play with the idea of not giving yourself mental directions.

And see what happens.

Just observe.

It actually frees up a whole bunch of mental space.

Okay,

So that's your task for today.
