Let's start by talking about what chakras are and what they're for.
The human energy system is called the biofield.
This is the energy that's integrated with our bodies and contains our thoughts,
Emotions,
And experiences,
The past and the present.
It's constantly sensing what's around us,
And it includes our intuitive perception as well.
The biofield is similar to our body in terms of that it has skin,
Veins and arteries,
And organs.
The skin are the layers of the aura,
Which include the etheric layer closest to our physical skin and more layers extending outward in all directions.
The veins and arteries of the biofield are the energy pathways with which energy travels around our biofield.
These are called meridians.
When there are blockages in the meridians,
It's like a traffic jam,
And techniques such as acupuncture,
Acupressure,
And many others can help to clear those pathways so every physical and energetic organ gets what it's needing to function on a healthy level.
Finally,
The chakras are the organs of the energy system,
And just like physical organs,
Each has its own important area of assignment,
And the chakra's state of balance is reflected in the proper function of the body parts near their location.
Each chakra has a specific location inside the body and extending outward into the aura in the front and back of the body.
Exceptions are the root chakra and the crown chakra,
Which point straight down and straight up,
Respectively.
We'll talk about those in other lessons of this course.
In this lesson,
We're going to talk about a chakra that's actually not in the body,
But underneath it.
This chakra is commonly known as the earth star chakra.
It's located six inches below your feet.
The chakras in the body are numbered one through seven from the bottom up,
But this one isn't in the body,
So we'll call it chakra number zero.
The function of this chakra is to ground us to the energy of the earth.
Here's something interesting to know about the energy of the earth.
The frequency of this energy is the same as the frequency of the heart chakra,
Which we'll talk about in a later lesson.
This is important because when we are receiving energy from the earth,
Such as when walking in the woods,
For example,
Or barefoot on the grass or beach,
This helps our actual heart rate become even,
And it brings our nervous system to a state of calm,
Which is great for our health.
I bet you've felt this sensation after a hike or a trip to the beach.
You feel present,
Clear-minded,
And nice and calm.
That's how it feels to be grounded,
For your energy to be grounded to the earth's energy.
Now,
Every chakra has a color,
Because colors have frequencies,
And it's not random.
Each chakra resonates with the frequency of its color,
And that means if you surround yourself with that color,
It will help balance that chakra.
If you eat a food that's that color,
It will also help.
If you smell something that comes from that color,
It will also help balance that chakra.
With the earth star chakra,
If you eat foods that are grown underground,
Like peanuts,
Potatoes,
And root vegetables,
That will help nurture it.
So the color of the earth star chakra are the earth tones,
Like the colors of dirt and clay,
Black and brown tones.
Very easy to remember.
The two-word phrase that I like to use to remember the function of this chakra are,
I live.
This is because this chakra is a connection to all earth life.
We are creatures of earth and live beings.
When we connect with this earth energy,
We are in sync with trees,
Plant life,
And the energy of the planet itself.
This gives us healing ions.
If you've read anything on the benefits of grounding,
Or earthing as it's sometimes called,
You'll see that this is really healthy and essential.
A tool to help balance the earth star chakra is,
As you may have guessed,
To ground your energy.
This can be done in a variety of ways,
Such as I mentioned a few moments ago,
Like being barefoot in the grass,
Walking on the soil or the beach barefoot,
Or taking a long walk in the woods.
But if these activities are not available to you right now,
You can do the grounding tree exercise.
You don't need a real tree to do this.
For the grounding tree,
We use our minds to connect our earth star chakra and plug it into the earth.
Here's how to do it.
You stand with both feet firmly on the floor.
You can keep your shoes on,
And you could even do this on the 10th floor of a building if that's where you are.
It's perfectly fine.
The power of the mind will do the work.
You imagine that you are a tree.
You can keep your hands at your sides,
By the way.
You don't have to stand with them up like branches.
You imagine that there are roots growing down from the bottom of your feet,
Deep into the earth.
Just use your imagination.
It's very strong,
And it really works to do this exercise.
So imagine these roots are growing down from the bottom of your feet into the earth,
And they burrow down farther and farther,
Getting strong,
Strong hold on the dirt,
And just helping you be very strongly planted.
And then you imagine absorbing earth energy into those roots,
Just like the trees absorb the water and the nutrients from the earth.
You are absorbing earth energy up into the roots,
And then it's rising from the roots up into your feet and your legs and traveling up your body,
Filling it with earth energy,
Like filling the trunk of the tree.
Imagine this earth energy coming all the way up,
Part by part,
All the way up your body,
All the way to your shoulders,
Down your arms,
Filling your hands,
And then coming back to your neck and reaching up through your face,
Through your head,
And then reaching up from the top of your head for the sunlight,
Reaching up for that sunlight the way the leaves and the branches absorb that,
And then just bringing it back down,
Down the crown of your head,
Your forehead,
Your face,
Your chin,
Your neck,
Down to your heart,
Where that energy plugs in with the earth energy,
And then open your eyes.
That is the grounding tree exercise.
Being grounded helps calm your nervous system.
It takes you out of that fight,
Flight,
Or freeze mode and clears your mind while bringing you to the present moment.
It's an excellent mindfulness practice as well.
