Welcome to day six of the semantics challenge here on Insight Timer.
This is an invitation to step out of your head and reconnect with your body.
Through simple practices,
You'll learn to feel,
Release,
And ease tension.
Let's jump in to today's session.
Hello and welcome back to the 7 Day Semantics Challenge.
My name is Rachel Fernley.
Today,
We work with the voice.
So stress can settle in the throat and in the chest.
In the sighs that we hold back and in the things that we do not say.
And over time.
That holding can create a real tension.
So this session uses humming.
Low toning and open mouth exhales to release through sound and vibration.
You do not need to sound a particular way.
Just give the body permission.
So find a position where you can be comfortable and supported.
You might sit,
Spine tall,
Yet relaxed,
Or lie down.
Whatever lets you soften and relax.
Let your eyes close.
Or your gaze rests low and soft.
And let's take a breath together.
In through the nose.
And a long,
Slow breath out through the mouth,
Maybe with a soft sigh.
Again,
In.
And out.
We exhale longer than the inhale.
Now just let your breath find its own rhythm.
And just start to feel the weight of your body.
The places where you meet the ground or the chair.
Nothing to do.
You're just arriving.
We'll now begin to make some sounds.
So we're going for a low hump.
A deeper grounding sound.
The kind of sound you feel more than you hear.
So let's take a breath in together.
And on your next out-breath,
Let your lips come gently together and hum.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm and just continue.
Long slow breaths in.
And easy,
Soft hums out.
Just going at your own pace,
At your own rhythm.
And just keep going.
Finding a pitch that feels comfortably low for you.
Somewhere your body can settle into that doesn't feel forced or strained.
Now,
If it feels right for you.
.
.
Bring one or both of your hands or your fingertips to rest very gently on the side of your neck.
No pressure,
Just resting.
And as you continue to harm.
See if you can feel the vibration under your hands or your fingertips.
Feel the sound.
Living in your body.
So you may need to move your hands or your fingers around a little bit to connect to the vibration and that's fine.
Continue with the sounding.
With this low gentle humming.
And notice where else it travels through your body.
Feel the vibration.
Maybe in your chest.
Your lips.
The back of your skull.
Just noticing.
Now,
If other sounds want to come,
Let them.
Maybe you want to stay humming.
But maybe the hum opens to a low ah.
Or an ooh,
Or maybe more of a growl,
Maybe there's more of a guttural sound that wants to come through.
Maybe an open-mouthed exhale.
Or a sigh wants to move through.
There's nothing to get right here.
Just let your body make the sound it wants to make.
Low easy,
Grounding,
Fluid sounds.
In a moment.
I'm going to invite you to gently plug your ears with your fingers or your hands.
So listen to this part first and I'll tell you when to close them.
So I invite you to hum.
Or ooh,
Or ah,
Or growl,
Two long,
Low rounds of breath.
Noticing how the sound changes when you plug your ears and you feel and connect to the vibration inside you.
So after the second round,
You can then release your ears.
So whenever you're ready.
Gently plug your ears.
And sound.
Beautiful.
Now let any sound come to rest.
Let your hands soften.
Let your shoulders relax.
Let your jaw relax.
And just allow yourself to feel.
Just notice the echoes of this practice.
Beautiful.
Now,
Let's take a final breath in together.
And out together without any sound.
Just notice what has shifted.
Perhaps the chest feels more open.
Perhaps the throat is a little less held.
Perhaps something.
That was compressed has found a little more room.
Sound is a direct line to the nervous system.
You can hum on a commute,
In the car,
Or while you wait for the bus.
No one needs to know what it's doing for you.
So tomorrow is the final day of the challenge.
And we will bring everything together in a full body unwind.
What sound did your body want to make today?
Share what came up with the community in the forum and good luck for the rest of the challenge.
