Hello,
Pashalindi here.
Here's a short mindfulness practice designed to help us let go of thinking and come back to the present moment using sounds.
So first,
Finding yourself a comfortable sitting,
Standing or lying position.
Closing your eyes or leaving your eyes open with a soft gaze.
And taking a few nice,
Long,
Deep breaths.
Exhaling fully on the out-breath.
And then allowing the breath to come in naturally and settle.
And now bringing our attention to our breathing.
Just a light attention,
Not changing anything.
It's like the body's breathing and we're just following along with our attention.
And if we listen carefully,
We might even hear the sound of our own breathing.
And now opening up our awareness to include all of the sounds we can hear around us.
Not fixating on any one sound,
But allowing sounds to come and go in our awareness.
And when we notice ourselves reacting to the sounds or lost in thoughts about the sounds,
We notice,
Let go and return to a rather spacious awareness of our environment.
Ready for the next sound to arise.
From time to time,
Perhaps aware of the silence that sounds emerge from and dissolve back into.
Let's continue to practice for a few more minutes in silence.
And if you wish,
You can continue becoming mindful of the sounds you can hear around you at other times during your day.
Thanks for taking time to reconnect.
