Hello everyone,
Welcome to this meditation.
Here we will give ourselves a well-deserved permission to rest.
Permission to do absolutely nothing for the next 30 minutes.
There will be no visualization,
No breath work,
Just gentle prompts to guide you into a state of independent rest.
In this meditation,
I am just a mirror,
Not a meditation teacher or coach or anything like that.
My words reflect into your mind at exactly the level you take them.
Let's start by finding a comfortable place for yourself.
Getting comfortable into the structure or support that you are on.
Doing whatever it takes to make yourself that extra bit comfortable for this deep period of rest.
Allowing your muscles to gently drop into the support.
Unclenching any areas of tightness that you may have within your body.
Sometimes we can unconsciously tighten our muscles up for a variety of different reasons.
It could be stress,
Trauma,
Having a very busy life.
For now,
Just slowly but gently loosening your body up at this time.
Allowing the support that you are on to take all of your weight.
Sinking right down into it.
And with this,
Your muscles ease.
Allowing them to gently unclench.
Your bones,
The strong structure of your body,
Sink down.
They lay to rest.
The heaviness goes out of your body and into the support.
Your skin lies there,
Leaning against the support.
Releasing it to do what it wishes.
The amount it does for you every day.
Encasing your whole body.
Providing structure and support.
Within these moments of rest,
You have abundant structure and support around you and within you.
The vital role of the skeletal system can lay down to rest.
Your muscular system.
Your blood vessels.
The vital organs of your body.
Allow all of these systems to do what they do.
The internal support.
Supporting you every step of the way.
Everything is covered for you.
You don't have to focus on anything in particular.
The support that you are on,
It may be comfortable and soft.
The breathable air that is around you.
The temperature in the room.
You may be nice and warm right now.
The shelter that protects you from the environment.
They are all external supports for you within these moments.
Everything is safe and looked after.
There is nothing for you to control.
Nothing for you to force.
You're just here.
And that's not an action.
It just is.
Letting the world beyond drift away.
Like a feather drifting away into a cloudless sunny sky.
Drifting onwards.
For the next while you don't have to control anything.
Thoughts about the world and your life may stay.
Thoughts that still pop into your head.
Maybe about food or work or people.
And that's completely natural.
Just letting go of control.
These thoughts are not your concern for now.
Let them work their way in and wither their way out in their own time.
We are just in this space right now.
Anything that comes to our attention is not something we need to control.
Any sensations within the body.
Let them do their thing.
Allow them to express whatever it is.
Maybe you have a conditioned response to try and control.
That's okay.
Notice.
There's no right or wrong here.
No rules.
Allow yourself to make your own decisions based on intuition.
Whatever you naturally feel.
Once again don't worry about my words at all.
They are a mirror.
You will only take what you can from them.
Naturally.
For the next 5 minutes do what naturally comes to you.
Whatever comes,
Let it be.
Resting in the support of the internal and the external.
That covers all of your needs.
Remembering there is nothing you can do wrong.
Notice how that period of silence went for you.
Not analyzing,
Feeling.
Do you feel more spacious?
Noticing where you are currently.
The body rests in this safe space.
It's okay if there are sensory responses within the body that may not be pleasant.
Or maybe there is boredom.
Or frustration.
There may be peace.
Or serenity.
There may be neutrality.
Nothing to strive for.
No peak.
Just what is.
If there is any thoughts coming up,
That is okay too.
Whatever these thoughts may be,
Just notice them.
Acknowledge them and allow them to be there.
Like a mountain acknowledging the change in weather and staying put.
Just staying the way it is.
Allowing the water to rain down on it.
Allowing the wind to blow it.
Allowing the sun to beam on it.
It just stays as it is.
A marvelous mountain.
Independent and free.
The wind is moving around you.
It may be calm.
It may be strong.
It may be somewhere in the middle.
You can choose to lean into it.
Or you can choose to stand still.
If you decide to let it carry you,
Know that you are the one allowing it.
No forcing.
If you wish,
Going with the wind.
Flowing.
Staying put.
Flowing.
Staying put.
As we bring this meditation to a close,
Take this current moment fully in.
Notice that within this meditation there is no goals.
No goals.
No important erection.
No optimization.
Just you being natural.
And you arrived naturally here.
Fully independent and autonomous.
Sometimes we can be so goal driven in daily life.
Driven by being efficient and fitting in.
Driven by climbing the ladders of modern life.
That we forget how to be natural.
Without any particular focus.
We forget how to just be as we are.
That's why it can be so great to practice this.
And allow yourself the space for things to come and go.
So now let's notice the environment around us.
And within us once again.
As we wake back up.
Notice that the bones,
The muscles,
The organs were here for you all along.
They didn't go anywhere.
The air around you.
The temperature.
The support beneath you.
Here for you all along.
You are looked after.
Just gently moving your body.
Coming back into it if you will.
Taking your time.
Listening to the sounds of the music.
Or whatever background noise you hear.
You can stay in this meditation for as long as you like.
If you choose to do so.
Otherwise just wiggling your fingers and toes.
Gently and slowly.
Opening your eyes.
Well done for participating in this meditation.
I'm glad you shared this space with yourself.
Come back to it whenever you feel the need to.
Mind yourself.
And bye for now.
