Hey guys,
Welcome to this meditation.
Here we will be taking a little bit of time out of our days to have the courage to be ourselves,
Which can be a challenging thing to do at times.
But today we will take off our mask and relax into what's beneath,
No matter what that is for you.
So just bringing yourself away from the day or night that you are currently having.
Allowing your attention to shift to this very moment.
Noticing how you are sitting or lying down.
How the ground,
Bed or chair supports your body.
This support can feel very safe.
Nurturing and grounding.
You're meant to be here in this very moment.
Rooted,
Safe,
Protected.
This space is your safe space right now.
In this room there is nobody to please.
Nobody to perform for and nothing to prove.
Sometimes in life things can feel very unsafe and we naturally put up a mask to make ourselves feel protected.
Certain environments can feel threatening.
For many it could be social environments,
Groups,
Work,
Even family for some.
The mask can sometimes remain on us even after the threatening scenarios have disappeared.
But right now we are going to take this mask off.
First we will loosen up the glue of the mask with a few deep breaths.
Breathing in safety.
Breathing out.
As the mask loosens feel the tiny muscles around your eyes relax.
Breathing in security.
Breathing out.
Feel your jaw unclench.
Breathing in well-being.
Breathing out.
Letting go of the effort it takes to hold a face for the world.
Notice now that the mask feels a lot looser.
Notice it gently come away from your face.
It gently drops to the ground like a feather floating down.
Beneath this mask is the true you.
It may feel awkward for some.
Some people may have never taken off this mask for a long time.
But it's okay.
Just being with yourself now.
All that fear,
Rejection,
Conformity,
It's all drifting away.
Floating away with the mask.
This is your very safe space.
No judgment exists here and therefore there's no need for protection.
You are here with your raw self.
Notice how that feels for you.
Whatever way it feels,
It's okay.
There's no right or wrong way to feel.
Just sinking into the raw wholeness of the one beneath the mask.
Sinking,
Sinking,
Sinking.
Meeting yourself again.
Beyond judgment,
Beyond social acceptance,
Beyond societal pressure.
Simply being yourself for now.
Resting with yourself.
Now as this meditation comes to an end,
It's your choice whether you decide to put the mask back on or not.
It's okay whatever decision you make.
Just knowing that it's not the real you.
It's simply a layer you wear.
Like a coat for the cold.
But underneath,
The warmth of your true self remains unchanged.
As you wake yourself back up,
Wiggle your fingers and toes.
Saying to yourself,
I am enough exactly as I am.
Beneath it all.
Now just opening your eyes with a new perspective and a lighter way of being.
Thanks so much for listening.
Come back to this meditation whenever you wish and I will see you soon.
